Re: Bidding for base is only after getting hired?
Does Jazz hire people with only one base choice? Or all hires have to bid on the base? Basically, due to some personal reasons, is there a way to know if you can start at the base you prefer before commencing training? Base and aircraft is picked during the first week of training. You do not know w...

Re: Demand for flight instructors
I thought we were talking about the demand of flight instructors, oh well! Lol same. I thought this forum had pilots who could help each other out and be civilised not children fighting over the internet... I keep hearing stories of how hard it is to get instructors. I see there being massive demad...

Re: Ornge hiring low timers?
Are their PC12 bases only up North or have they added any in Southern Ontario? Thanks again Only fixed wing bases are YXL,YQT and YTS the bases are assigned on day 1 based on a seniority draw and subject to staffing requirements. In other words make peace with living in any one of those towns prior...

Re: Ornge hiring low timers?
I’m at approximately 600 hours, doesn’t hurt to try.redblue1010 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 1:25 pm If you mean low-time e.g. 250 or less the answer is no. Unless something has changed recently their Captains need ATPL and FOs need at least 500 hours but I think those are contractual requirements, could be outdated info.

Ornge hiring low timers?
Hi aviators,
Just looking and browsing the ads and came to Ornge and their first officer vacancies on the PC12.
Do they really hire low timers for the right seat and only bases up north?
Yeah the pay sucks but is it worth it being that initial first potential job.
Thanks again

Re: Jazz current real hiring hours
Anyways, usually they look for multi and turbine time, and hopefully with some pic for a quicker upgrade. My 2c is they wont be hiring any college grads or instructors till next year unless they run out of more experienced people. Wrong. You mean there is hope for us 800 to 900 hour guys in the nex...

Re: “How old is too old”
Everyone is different. But having witnessed given pilots training every year over many many years and myself being part of an ageing group, one thing is undeniable and that's this: LEARNING AND RETAINING GETS WAY HARDER AFTER 50!!!!!! Don't belie me, ask pilots north of 50 that had been on one type...

Average flying hours yearly by flight instructors
Hi aviators,
Just getting a feel on how many hours on average flight instructors are logging annually at a reasonable sized flight school like Seneca, or the Brampton flight centre?
Thank you for your time

“How old is too old”
Hi aviators, I know that I’m probably going to have a few here making fun of my question but I’d like to hear from those that maybe were in my position for trying. How old is too old to getting an entry level pilot position even flying for outfits like Porter and Jazz at the age of 56? I’ll be retir...

Re: Building “total time” on advanced ultralights
Depends. It matters if it made you a better pilot. So whether it’s worthwhile depends on what you make of it. I had three guys who applied this year, all of whom had about 500 hours, all who bought planes to time build on. Two of them couldn’t fly worth beans, and with a few questions I deduced tha...

Re: Building “total time” on advanced ultralights
So is “building total time “ a waste of time and money? So the only way of getting a job after the commercial licence is instructing or 703? So even buying a 150 or 172 and flying the crap out of it both vfr and ifr doing x-country trips is a waste of time and money .

Re: So now what? - Post Equipment Bid
Maybe most Canadian airlines will just follow suit to what Sunwing is doing and start making a case to bring in foreign pilots since there are no qualified applicants available. Wouldn't that also be interesting indeed....... That's not going to happen, and if it does it will be insignificant. It's...

Short about 400, ~150 CA spots. They'll prob hire people who can upgrade for now but I think they will have a problem finding it. Thank you for the info much appreciated, should I throw in my resume I’m short of 700 hours with over 100 pic on twins ? You never know... 700 hrs was not normally somet...

Is this more of a pilot/ flight attendant shortage or below the wing ramp and check-in staff shortage

But yeah start me at 140 per flight hour, a stable commuting schedule 4 on 4 off with POS DH with J class upgrade when there’s availability, paid hotels to accommodate early/late pairings and per diem that matches the justinflation and I’ll come fly whatever they want me to fly and I might even wea...
