Re: Buffalo airways

Simply not killing or hurting people is a pretty low standard. Well that generally means they aren’t crashing airplanes. I know people think safety is sitting around talking and using acronyms. I think all in all Buffalo has a pretty good safety record and good way for kids to actually learn some s...

Nothing has changed, except the newspaper reporting the cost of these trips. https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/bill-for-stephen-harper-s-annual-arctic-trips-tops-3-4m/article_1cd22b83-6652-5fdd-963e-fc6f1901bbda.html Perhaps you should become prime minister on a platform of flying Economy and eat...

Re: PWA vs CP Air merger

If you want an example of a recently arbitrated merger, between groups with large differences in upgrade times, have a look at the result of the Canadian North-First Air seniority list.

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt

I'm a little surprised that the media hasn't picked up on their inability to make new bookings.

If AC or WJ had a service outage, it would be front page news within the hour.

Re: BAe 146 Runway Overrun

I call BS on comment that only the last part of the runway was icy. I suspect the entire runway was icy, not treated or inspected by the airport operator. I suspect the RJ100 crew did not plan for an icy runway and tried to turn off on taxiway A with a lot of speed. Very likely true, but if you thi...

The lack of an ATPL won't keep you out of a 737....in this current job market.

Re: Thunder Airlines MU2 accident in Wawa

Not a very experienced crew on aircraft type, particularly for a training captain. That said, if you're expecting a plowed runway, it's pretty difficult to tell on approach during low light, the difference between compact snow and unplowed. I've been there myself, and was lucky to only be embarrassed.

Re: Any plans for Socialized bidding?

I find it ironic that Porter pilots are extolling the virtue of seniority bidding, on the basis of a new hire getting the benefit of an expanding airline. This was the same argument that Flair pilots made during their growth phase, until it suddenly ground to a halt. Will Porter pilots still think t...

Previous canadian case law shows that you don't even have to have a WRITTEN agreement.

A verbal promise is binding.

Re: Jet stream down

It will not be the wrong altimeter setting. They were taking off. The first instrument that affects the crews actions will be the ASI, which triggers the V2 rotate call. The second instrument is the rate of climb indicator, which triggers the "positive rate/gear up" dialogue. I expect that will be ...

Allegedly on LiveATC the pilots said "we have avoided a long landing" after the go around.
