Re: WestJet pilots to strike because $300K a year ain't enough

Media should ask some better questions in these interviews. Such as things about how the air Canada ceo just got over 200 percent increase in compensation, how are these optics that you think a 2 digit, aka 10 percent increase is satisfactory for pilot. Also the ceo admits US pilots are paid double,...

Re: John Aaron negotiating public

Corporations and government collude with each other. Probably calling each other every day talking about how the corporations can pay off the MP's and how the governments can make policy decisions to keep wages low. Then publicly they act like they are against each other. The big difference is corpo...

How many hours is an Fo expected to be at work per year? 28 day schedule blocks, 10 days off within that and 18 working days. If you aren’t flying you’re on reserve. So probably expected to be available for a 12 hour day. In that 18 day block, x13 per year. 2800 hours of work perr year, 41k.... Thi...

Did you know, some of your “best pilots are making more than the Prime Minister” https://www.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=2689169 The mental gymnastics is incredible. WestJet has some of the best pilots in the world, but we can't afford to pay them more than half what a pilot makes in America. Some of W...

Daddy Legault says it takes courage to give themselves a 30k raise. I think every Quebec based pilot is going to need a 30k raise to help pay taxes for this. Know your worth… these guys don’t even ask for a raise, they just take your money. https://globalnews.ca/news/9696538/quebec-premier-francois-...

If Canadians were really concerned about a small increase in airfares you would think they would be more vocal about their biggest expense, paying daddy Trudeau. That guy makes life more expensive for everyone, along with all the other levels of government. You could triple pilot’s salaries and it w...

It's interesting you're asking for danger pay when you're working in what's supposed to be the safest form of transportation.... Not according to life insurance stats. Aviation includes more than 705 ops. The topic is about Westjet Captain salaries. Not 703 medevac ops or crop dusting. Most westjet...

The best way to negotiate pay, it if you are willing to leave if you don’t get what you demand you are worth. Dust off the resume. Unless you are willing to quit, most people struggle to make substantial wage gains. Unfortunately contracts put pilots in a corner because seniority has to much value. ...

Did blockbuster have a “me too” clause with Netflix? If they get a raise we get a raise! How would that work out? The market is your leverage, not some “I’m entitled to what they get” as in I point my finger where people are gaining and try to jump in the bandwagon. Meanwhile I completely ignore any...

Extreme capitalism versus degenerated socialism. Right now, Westjet pilot's biggest risk should they chose to strike is the CIRB declaring them a service essential to Canadians. Same goes for Air Canada pilots at their next bargaining round. My worry is Tiff Macklem's comments on minimizing worker ...

Re: Is WestJet an essential service, where the government can mandate striking pilots back to work?

Air travel didn't shut down for covid. There was lots of work to do on the freight side. Had all flying in Canada actually shut down it would cripple the economy. The reason porter could shut down with no impact is the passengers they serve no longer required travel during the plandemic. That is a s...

Its no value to trash the profession by wearing costumes or shouting at people. Pilots won't be harassing passengers or catsa workers or other airline crews, most are already su...
