Re: Tips for float flying on the West Coast
After having had a chance to re - read what I wrote above ... I can see I have possibly opened the door to negative comments re .. poor weather flying. As I sit here and ponder the negative comments to follow ... I can say this. In my time as a line pilot on the Coast I have been immediately impacte...

My suggestion to the new guy is just this. Talk to the line pilots and ask them questions. Usually ... you are line indocted at each...

Re: Can a Widgeon handle rougher water than a Beaver?
Belly boats can handle large rough water ... more so than the standard float plane... the question really is how large are your balls, just because the plane can handle it ... can you is the question!! ... the larger the water the more risky it gets. eg : anyone can sit in front of a piano ... only ...

Re: Transport Canada unit restricts media interviews
Well ... I think this is a great idea. I had the pleasure of a 2.5 hour de-brief with TSB last week and wouldn't you know it some of the confidental comments made behind closed doors were public and in the media within 2 days???? What the hell is that all about. Kinda makes me not want to co-operate...

When your attitude changes and you no longer want to be an instructor but you keep doing the job anyways. That's when it becomes a handicap.

Re: Garmin 296
Coastal flying in reduced weather with the 296 is amazing. Add the marine and topo chip and it rocks even more. I've flown long enough to have experienced the traditional nav aid navigation method... the numbered Loran system and early GPS numbered technology with low res blocky moving map features ...

R985 cowling shake!
Here's a question for you. If you have an engine with a rough shake and the cowling is rotating left to right ( 9 to 3 oclock) a bit but still running smooth rather than up and down (12 to 6 oclock) what possible problem do you have and why?

Re: .1 or .2 to airtime on floats
Log it the way that it is!! It's not about just adding a .1 or .2, its about telling the truth. Now that the busy season is apon us, adding a point two to every leg might max out your duty time for the month if your busy. Log reality. In the float world they will ask you. "Is that hard time or .2 ti...

Ryan told me last night that he needs one more Goose pilot for the 08 season. If your intrested in flying the Goose you should pick up the phone and call him. Ohhh and no, there is no tail wheel time or multi-min requirement.

I witnessed a killer whale swimming straight up to the surface of the water with its mouth wide open getting ready to eat a scoop of salmon into its mouth. Only the dorsel fin breached the water. Total B.C. moment.
