Re: nav can awws site closure

I'd love to send the link for Weathered Strip to 'service at navcanada.ca'.
I'm curious why a guy in Quebec can make such a useful and free (for now) website when the full might of the Canadian Government can't.
Or won't.

Re: Aerodrome Advisory Forecast? And alternates?

I'll give it a shot...

METARS are valid for 5NM around the aerodrome in question.
TAFs are based on those METARS, therefore I would say that the TAF for CYMJ would not apply to CJS4, which is 9SM away.

I would suggest you use the GFA to determine the alternate legality of CJS4.

Re: More Trouble in Paradise....

I’m waiting for Flair’s PR team to announce “overwhelming” demand for the free flights to Burbank. If there’s organic demand as a result of a careful strategic and tactical network planning, something Flair has steadfastly avoided since day one, flights will fill with economic fares without having ...

Feel free to call our President to know more : Jacques Prud'Homme Cell phone 514 237-4913. He is really hoping to have a chance to talk to you.
Is this for real?
1 - No "President" wants to talk to a newb.
2 - His personal cell phone?

Doesn't pass the sniff test.

Re: Flight Dispatcher Exams

FDMET & FDOPS used to be free to write and then you had to wait, perhaps a month (or two?) between attempts.
If they ARE still free, go and write 'em. Then you'll see what you need to know.

Re: Cargojet awarded Canada Post contract

How likely is it that Canada Post has instructed Cargojet not to hire any Flightcraft pilots? Pilots jumping to CJ from KF will leave flights short-staffed in the run-up to the end of the contract. That could cause cancelled flights and service interruptions. Is there any precedent for this sort of ...

Re: Sole controller on duty catches up on sleep at Reagan In

There is information out there that US controllers get 8 Hours off duty between shifts sometimes.
That's 8 hours to get home, do the wife, pay the bills and then "sleep", then go back and get to work.

Should have at least two people on duty, tho.

Re: Porter in the news

CTV News says it was POE243 & FlightAware shows POE243 turning around right over YYT at 1546z.
15z Metar says "28013G18KT 15SM FEW220 06/M01 A3041".

If all this is true, why not just land in YYT instead of going all the way back to YHZ with a large, wet, cold ocean underneath them?

Flair's total area of experience is CYVR-CYYT (West-East) and CFG6-MUHA (North-South). Anyone taking the assignment in t...

Re: Air Canada Flight Dispatcher

Last I heard, AC wants dispatchers that have been somewhere else in the company for while. So, yeah, Jazz might be the best place to start. It seems reasonable that Jazz dispatchers would have an easier time getting on at AC. That said, nearly every other airline with Type A & B operational control ...
