Re: Swoop interview

Don't know about the interview process, but last time there was a position bid, all pilots wanted to get out of swoop to go back to mainline. Please do your homework. The whistleblower hotline was activated due to unsafe practises with regard to scheduling. Unless you want a 737 ppc to go somewhere ...

Re: New WestJet FO

Kag is correct, but there is more to a Captain upgrade at WJ than what he alludes to. It starts with an interview -- management has talked to the last few Captains you have flown with -- where they discuss your training record, attitude, expectations of what they want from you as a line Captain and ...

Re: Bases announced!!

The only problem I see is that the contract negotiations have been shelved in order to do this base thing. Why would the WJPA allow that to happen? When the company is making record profits, (and as far as anyone hears the company wanted concessions from the pilot group including days worked) it sho...

I hear the single engine service ceiling on the ATR is too low to be able to do YLW-YEG.

Re: Can Canadians work in europe with an ATPL?

I am retired, after working for European airlines for many years. Yes I am Canadian. With my Canadian Airline Transport license and more than 8000 hours in heavier than 12500 lbs, my Canadian license was converted into a JAA license without having to do the myriad of exams. Professionals are profess...

Re: Dont try this at home kids!

The 747 is certified for 3 engine take-offs. The trick is to power up 2 symetrical engines, get going, and feed in the 3rd one while the pilot flying adds in rudder. Only with an approved 3 engine ferry crew, no pax, and to get to a maintenance station. To suggest that airlines would be willing to d...

Re: "Poorly Paid, Often Tired, Junior Pilots"

Way to go, American law makers. Perhaps someone from the FAA could educate the good senator; hours in a log book are not representative of training nor experience. 1500 hours of supervising touch and go's in a 152, is not the same as 1500 hours in a single pilot navajo operation.

Re: Getting Paid

Tony, you are absolutely correct. ALL pilots, no matter what company they fly for, try to do the job to the best of their abilities. That is what they are hired for. That means, (sometimes) going above and beyond their duties as laid out in their company operations manual, in order to get the job do...

Re: Port Push Out, Split Crews In

The problem with split crews is as follows. The front end in WJ 600 is waiting in YYZ for a back end that is coming in from wherever on WJ 800. WJ 800 is late. Because of this, not only is WJ 800 late in leaving YYZ due to their late arrival, WJ 600 is late due to their having to wait for the WJ 800...

Hey Four1oh

Isn't it true that your company drivers can DH in uniform to a destination, not get paid for it as they are technically not at the controls, and then start a 14 hour day??

Wapity Lawsuit settled

Just heard the results of the Wapiti lawsuit. The trial lasted just over a week when the judge decided that he had heard enough, and threw the case out of court. I am sure this will come as bitter blow to the plaintiff who has spent the better parts of 23 years trying to get this case to court, but ...
