Re: British Airways to Hire 800 Pilots
Read the program on the BA site, it is indeed 0-right seat. I suppose you can go out and do it yourself, try and get a job and be lumbered with the debt. Or, sign up for this program, do the training and get the money back. Hmmmm. Anyway, I'm not there, just think it's a good program for newbs. Any ...

Re: British Airways to Hire 800 Pilots
80gs will take you from 0 hrs to a right seat at BA. It is then paid back over 7 years, sounds to me like free training over the long term. Certainly better than trying to come up with the money to pay off that debt. No reduced salary over the 7 yr term. I'd say not bad in today's economies.

I think it's closer to 1800/month. Gross=28 000$, minus 20% tax rate-ish=1866 a month, subtract the medical benefits and union fees, I think it's about 1800 a month, I may be wrong. The per diem rate is low, but about 500 a month most likely. But who cares, per diem is not income. If you're using pe...

Keep updating with AC, a lot. Apply at WJ and keep updating, a lot. You don't need French and you don't need a 737 rating, Canjet is a hit and miss gig, here one day, gone the next. Nothing bad to the Canjet guys. You need to get the time off work for that interview, someway, somehow make it happen....

Re: Flight Dispatcher as a career
Chartright at the north end at yyz is hiring flight followers/coordinators, this is a good position to get into to start a career in dispatch. You'll learn a lot from a company like this while studying for your licence. The licence itself is two fold. First, you write two exams at TC, one weather re...

Re: This IS An AVIATION Web Site
I would like to see a return to proper, intelligent discussions on aviation related articles or rumours, as this is essentially a rumour network to some degree. There have been a few tasteless jokes lately; hoods and crosses, Doc, and I would like to see those sorts of jokes go by the way side. I've...

How does this dirt bag company hire after just firing a bunch of people they didn't "want". I hope one of these guys that got let go sues these trash bags. You'll enjoy a low salary and 8 whole days off. Sorry, I can't stand this company, and no, I've never worked for them or even applied, just piss...

Re: Your thoughts on 'sitting sideways'
A couple thoughts here. First, I would stay away from Morningstar, not that it's a bad company or anything, but they are phasing out their 727's over the next year meaning no upgrade, and no job. Second, having some time behind you will help for both a left seat upgrade and finding work should the c...

Hey ... They have brought back airplanes, there are a couple new contracts that were started over the last few months, they have run through the re-call, not all took a spot as they weren't everyone's original spot and they hired some new so's from the regional side. Several guys are in the midst of...

Re: Air Georgian Dispatching
It's a self dispatch system, however all co-ordination, crew sked and flight following is in house. Skeds for flight followers, or dispatchers, are 4 on 4 off, usually nights or days. Crew sked works early morning to early evening, as does ops co-ordinators. Last I saw, dispatchers started around 24...

Re: AIR GEORGIAN
They only hired direct entry a couple of years ago when things were moving so fast. I think you'd waste your time going there with a bunch of 1900, not to mention collecting a not so great pay cheque out of YYZ, 26.9$. IF you have all that, look for a left seat elsewhere, AC and WJ seem to like 1900...

Life isn't easy buddy, no one ever said it would be. It's hard out there these days, for a lot of people, but hard work, patience and perseverance is the name of the game. IF you thought you'd have a job right out of training, you were mis lead or too hopeful. I don't know your background or what yo...

There's a lot to be said for staying home where your family will be happy. Your money won't help you through pain and hardship like your family and friends will.
Enjoy.

Re: Air Georgian Pilots are going on strike!
I worked for GGN for 7 great years and they are certainly not a dangerous outfit. Tell your buddy to go work for a couple other outfits before complaining about it. 11 gdo's, 70-90 hours a month flying, I don't think that's over the top in terms of hours worked to be honest. Every time GGN goes thro...

Re: Air Aprint VS. Ornge - PC-12
Those are good points Synth. However, I'd pick Sprint, especially with a family in the house. Sprint will keep you and the family where they want to be. Working a lighter sked gives you more time at home, saves you cash on baby sitting or daycare, if you need it, and gives you a chance to work elsew...

There are companies out there looking. Bearskin, Canjet, a couple places in AB, a sprinkle here in there in Quebec, northern Ontario (Wasaya), even Enerjet has a new posting on PCC. It seems bad but it's not as bad as things were after 9/11. Zoom aside, no one has really shut their doors lately, oth...

Re: PIC single engine piston, or Co pilot Multi Turbine time?
If you're someone with 300-500hrs with the bare min from your training, take the PIC, even if it's a 152. Once you've got a decent amount of PIC, move on to the other stuff. Like other people have said, 2000hrs with 100pic in your book doesn't leave you with much choice, nor will it give you the tim...

There are many things that my tax dollars go to that I don't want them too, guess I'm a pussy then. Ha, what a joke this has become. What race are you talk about widebody? This did start as a mild chuckle but of course, it's turned retarted as do most Avcanada discussions, yes I'm a culprit too. But can we at least agree that Canada's a good place and that it was nice to talk about something other...

Sure have pal, lived in quite a few cities in this country in my life, and out of this country. Like I said, not slagging anything here, just trying to prove a point, read my post. I wasn't the first to come on here and rip up of people's home.
