Re: What will Air Canada pilots do with their $0 bonus?
Lies, Damned lies, Accounting... All lies and hidden money anyway... In the past the Association has tasked a working group to audit the numbers and verify actual payouts accurately. They didn't just flip EBITDAR for EBITDA... Have you written your rep and asked what they do? I assume ALPA is not g...

Re: What's life like as a commuting pilot to start?
How has your experience been starting at AC as a commuter? Length of reserve? Costs? Lifestyle issues? Anything else you've felt? I've been commuting out east for a while and I can say a Jr Pilot commuting at Air Canada will be terrible. No long call reserve, still have to pay for commutes plus eve...

Re: Recall of MEC Chair & Vice Chair
So let me get this straight when it’s rep pay, the comparator is ALPA across North America. But when it’s the rest of the contract, suddenly it’s “Canadian standards.” Shouldn’t reps then pattern bargain off the lowest-paid reps too? By the way, isn’t starting pay at AC now roughly what it is at Fla...

Re: Recall of MEC Chair & Vice Chair
Go have a conversation with your SPSC. Ask the "Let's Fucking Get'em" guy? When I saw this live in YYZ I could see the face from the main ALPA guy. We looked liked fools. That MEC group was an embarrassment. Then the leadership flopped. Then they got those displacements so they can enjoy their 95 h...

Winnipeg has 2 of 10 votes on MEC or 20% of total
They are 50 of 5500 pilots so 0.9% of total

Re: Recall of MEC Chair & Vice Chair
How many reps does Winnipeg have versus other bases? YVR & YUL have the same amount of voting reps as YWG YUL & YVR have a thousand plus members so 20 times plus as many but somehow have the same number of votes. So when the World Ass Contract was sent to the membership, YWG armed with a proxy had ...

Re: Recall of MEC Chair & Vice Chair
Now that it's done, it's time to move on. But the motions were bullshit and it wasn't 80%. YYZ was something like 47 - 45 on the vote and the Yea vote was mostly made up of proxies. Most of the people actually in the room voted against the motion. If you actually canvassed the membership you will f...

Re: contract search tool
I'd rather see ALPA focus on straight salary gains going forward. I'm happier with money in the bank every month. You want ALPA focused on giving out profit sharing concessions. Apparently you don't like Delta's contract or their 10% bonus they just got. Air Canada pilots just gave up $75 million. ...

For one thing WJ vacation credit is 4.5 hrs vs whatever garbage AC gets in 2033 You are either intentionally misleading or not aware how it works. WJ vacation week is 5 days @4.5 credit per=22.5 per vacation week AC 25/26 vacation is 7 days @2:55 per=20.42 per vacation week 26/27 is 7@3:15=22.75 pe...

CWIPP is better than nothing but I don't get how people get so excited about it. There are absolutely no guarantees despite any glossy brochure. The plan was started by meat cutters and I'm not sure how it will work out in the long term for a higher pay profession like pilots. Let's just say I'm hap...

ALPA main goal wasn’t to get massive gains, it was to avoid paying strike pay. Union brass get bonuses the fatter their bank accounts are. I’m not surprised they settled around the rumoured 40pct gains - you jump past WS and have some gains and get to do this again in 4 years. I don’t think anyone ...

One of the largest factors in cost is stage length
AC's ratio of flying with overseas to other airlines is massive. Even US Airlines. WJ isn't even close
The long stage length of these flights gives AC a huge cost advantage and another reason it can and will pay Air Canada pilots world class rates

Pay didn’t used to affect how well you flew an airplane, but did affect to a large degree how long you stayed in a job. I worked some very poorly paid jobs and learned to fly an airplane pretty damn well. Subsequently the sim ride at AC for both myself and my new hire colleagues was a fun non-event...

The MEC flushed the ex VP Flights Ops ACPA CEO
How we had the guy who locked out our pilots during the 1998 strike running the ACPA asylum is beyond me
Regardless, that turd was flushed
All leaders of ALPA are active pilots.
Pilot led, staff supported

Re: Negotiations
Air Canada pilots said no to an MOA about 9-12 months ago. No second offer was presented at the table. Different circumstances but still worth mentioning. I haven’t flown with anyone that has regretted voting down that MOA. I think most of us still think of it as a bit insulting. No "No" voter ever...
