Re: New payscale
Gave up striking at the 11th hour for this. 🤦♂️ Terrible PCP. Those FO rates are at least. $20-$25/hr short of anywhere close to industry standard PCP. Pay rates are only a part of the contract. I'll take the improvements to scope and everything else that we secured over a few dollars more an hour...

Re: Agreement in Principle reached
I don't see AC making historic wage gains as it's all supply and demand and currently there is no issue on the supply side for AC pilot recruiting. Maybe if all WJ/Encore pilots stop filling AC PIT classes that would change it, but based on this AIP I'm not sure if that will be the case. The worst ...

Re: Agreement in Principle reached
Let's not forget that WestJet pilots wanted a full system wide rebid. They're getting it with this deal. What does this entail? Are they saying a system wide rebid including “bump” and “flush”. Where someone currently holding 737 Captain at Swoop (for example) can be bumped by a senior pilot, but n...

Re: Agreement in Principle reached
I think we all (especially the westjet guys and girls who were planning to be on strike today) need to see the actual TA before any comments are made on whether its a good deal or not.

Re: WestJet pilots to strike because $300K a year ain't enough
We all know that article is complete bullshit. It's a strike. People spent hundreds or thousands on flights and bow they're worried about losing money and travel being disrupted, and they're looking for a scapegoat. Its understandable. Best we can do is not share these trashy articles, and when you ...

What can we do to help?
As a pilot working for a different airline living in Calgary, what can I do? Should I stop by with some donuts? How many? And on a more serious note, if this does get uglier and the strike/lockout lasts longer than expected or planned for, is there a donation fund? Is there any other meaningful way ...

Re: Recruiting Video
Rookiepilot, I'm sure if you read through every single thread on avcanada you will eventually find someone who possibly implied thr PIC should be the best paid person on the planet. But come on. None of us believe that. Grow up. Your understanding of this industry is completely wrong. Experience mea...
Re: Be Ready
Good lord I hope this is Canadian pilots finally waking up. Westjet pilots, we're all behind you. We will walk the line with you. You deserve better. We all do. This country has a history of MEC's that seem to be more scared of management than they are their own pilots. We've seen it at AC, seen it ...

Re: TA Passed
The pay cut I was talking to was the 3% pay raise FOs were given when inflation since 2020 is almost triple that.
A pay raise that doesn't at least match inflation is a pay cut.

Re: TA Passed
Pilots can help a company save money by doing their job. Show up on time, don't abuse sick days, fly economically, don't waste time, that's how you help a company save money. Taking a lower pay rate has very little impact on revenue compared to just showing up and doing your job well. There's no hon...

Re: TA Passed
I'm disappointed in a few things today. First and foremost I'm disappointed in some of the unnecessary, rude, personal attacks made on this and other threads. There are certain things that should be criticized, but be professional about it. After all, this is supposed to be a forum of Canadian aviat...

Re: TA…HERE IT IS AND IT SUCKS
I just can't back a contract that says captains are worth more than twice what first officers are worth. Why were FOs ignored this negotiation? A short contact and fast upgrades aren't an excuse.

Re: New Flair Tentative Agreement
Sorry??!!... You don't have a problem being the lowest paid and hardest worked? Then why don't you volunteer and donate your salary back to the company? What's the point? The more you talk, the more credibility you lose buddy. Just stop, it's embarrassing. We've had enough of these degrading attitu...

All I can say from what I've seen is I'll be disappointed in the Flair pilot group if the vote is yes. Know your worth, you're better than this.

How long to get YYC base
How many years do you generally have to work for westjet before you can hold YYC?
And do you foresee any time when they will hire directly at the YYC base rather than all new first officers being YYZ based?

QOL for commuters
Whats the QOL like for AC pilots who commute? Any insight from anyone living in Calgary would be appreciated.
And what are the upgrade times like? How many hours do you need to upgrade?
