Re: Logging RP time

Hmm, as an FO I could have some decent jet PIC if I log all the time while the skipper was in the can.

What about the other shoe?

The United States airline industry tanked and it seems AC Mainline is the first to react here in Canada. First with the fuel surcharges and now shrinking the service 7% for the fall. Some say it is posturing for 2009 contract negotiations. At least the public can't accuse the airlines of price gougi...

Re: equipment bid

I am pretty sure the "fly past 60" group would lose interest if they were required to take the next seniority number after the most junior pilot that they are affecting. This is a unique situation where "rights" and "ethics" clash.

Re: Total compensation statement

Never said I'm hard done by Air Canada, I love it, it's a good job, but I'd like to see improvement on work condition and pay. I Just don't like to see money wasted on poor attempt from management to prepare negotiations.... then to hear that there is no money for the pilots while Management bonuse...

Re: PBS

Hey, Anyone out there commuting and know how to get a good schedule out of PBS? I am looking to work blocks of days (maybe 7 on, 7 off). Would prefer higher credit stuff, and really don't care what kind of flying I do while I am at work. I think I sit somewhere around 70% on the Emj yyz list. If an...

Pilot experience pool

I remember even 3 years ago most of the King Air or similar captains I knew in the city had an average of about 5000 hours. What is the mainstream now? I am happy to see that the music isn't close to stopping yet. :D

That would be Air Canada mainline hands down. You can bid to be senior on something small like an EMJ and basically be working on your own scheduling terms-but you would prob wanna move to the most junior base, like YYZ. I think most people opt for a balance of bigger and better $ in exchange for le...

Another question: Do you really go from being a 5-year A320 FO (~90k) to a first year Capt making $37.3k? Yes or no will suffice...I don't really need to no the complexities of the pay schedule. I just want to know if the pay cut is that drastic. No. You would go to year 5 Captain salary and a sign...

Keep puckering. I know soeone who did interview in June, got PFOd this week. The 4 weeks no letter doesn;t hold water anymore. Good luck! How about 2 months and no letter? LOL... I guess I am in the bargaining stage... I wonder if you can "time out" in the pool. I hear they are still interviewing a...

I actually asked two members from the hiring committee if it's true that their is a low percentage coming from Jazz and the answer was about the same rate as what comes off the street and even for that the military members are seeing their fair share of PFO letters as well. So what do you do when s...

I've been told they are hiring at the 4500+ experience level and a large percentage of the successful candidates are coming off of jets. I also heard a lot of their pilots are coming from Jazz these days.

Congrats with the job, SplitS. Personally, I would take the base at home and get used to the company and you are still building seniority just as well. You can always make the move at a later date because the bids are awarded on seniority and not base seniority. Sorry, a but off the topic, but how l...
