Re: FOAG 2025
I can appreciate E2 FOs being disappointed. I think more of them planned on trying to make a career at porter than most people give them credit for. But considering how comparable this pay scale looks like vs the 220 at AC, where they'd get seniority quickly as the 220 pilots start upgrading onto a...

Re: FOAG 2025
This round the E2 CAs got a good chunk despite 0 retention issues because the averaging amongst the carriers dictated it to the displeasure of the E2 FO group. Sounds like many of them are updating resumes and logbooks. There is a factor that adds a bit of complexity to this and that is the 'fence'...

Re: WJ Merger Committee should he ashamed
- Imagine being a 9 year WJ FO in YYZ who has been waiting patiently for an upgrade , and now you have to fly with a junior Sunwing Captain who was only hired in 2022? Imagine finding out he also getting paid as a Westjet Captain? Seems fair right? - Imagine finding out that guy who ended up at Sun...

Re: Sunwing/Westjet
The 30% is moot. Sunwing would have negotiated their new deal. They were making more per hour, then WestJet got their deal and got more, then Sunwing would have negotiated WestJet rates again. Just to keep things honest here.

Re: AC vs Delta wages (CAD converted)
I haven't seen it done, so I've attached the table posted earlier this month where I wrote the real numbers (US converted to CAD for Delta wages). I only calculated for NB. You can see that the TA is bringing the FO wages from 60% to 160% of Delta, when the Captains are around 60% of Delta everywhe...

Re: It is imminent.......be ready.
Wow. People need to pass your personal vetting now before offering support? If cdnavatar was there to support your cause (which I don't doubt), your only response should be: "thank you". Doesn't matter what happened in the past. Right or wrong, he was there now. So again, "thank you" are the words ...

Re: Strike vote
Is there something wrong with binding arbitration? Seems like a judge-like person looks at both sides and makes a decision that is reasonable. I was a member of a union that had a no strike clause and binding arbitration as policy. It worked out quite well for us at that time and I remember the com...

Re: Strike vote
I think it is in AC managements best interest not to go into binding arbitration. If they truly want a world class airline with motivated, top tier pilots they need to treat us with respect and pay us what we deserve. The airline executives in the US seem to get it. I know for myself personally, if...

Re: Reasons to come to Air Canada (… or not)
Are people still just looking at hourly rates at ignoring the stuff that really matters? All that stuff matters more than a touch more pay. Yeah dude, there I was the other day trying to pay my mortgage in YVR with my B1 flight passes and the bank teller had the audacity to tell me that they only a...

Re: Reasons to come to Air Canada (… or not)
Air Canada doesn't need to sacrifice their contract for a scope clause they already have that running for them. Huge difference from a negotiations point of view I have no doubt other excuses will be used to explain why it only makes sense they didn't end up with a world class contract *this time*....

Re: Is it that bad at AC for pilots? I mean food stamp bad!
Very easy. Once you go widebody CA — you can’t compare a 737/E192 pay scale, Your career earnings go up exponentially. A WB upgrade on the 767 has gone as low as 5yrs until the reduced and A330 is about 10-12yrs right now. Long term AC is the best career path in Canada. Also as far as the comment o...

Out of interest how many of these are cadets with less than 1500 hours/no ATPL who won’t be allowed to work at WJ and will be probably facing layoff? Or are the cadets a very small amount? Won’t be allowed. lol. Says who? I worked at a place where they required 3000 hrs to be captain, until one day...

4 to 5 years? Is this for the September 2023 onward Jazz new hires part of the 30% agreement? 60% was never 60% and 30% will not be 30% those numbers where never followed. Just dont bother with Jazz It was always followed until the post covid boom, and is back to being followed, no? Kinda misleadin...

If 60 pilot are redundant, why did Sunwing continue to hire if they are now owed by WJ? Why does WestJet continue to hire? The 60 redundant pilots are required for Sunwing's operation. SW knows guys are going to leave for AC. SW knows they need pilots for deployments this summer for vacation covera...

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
Hopefully after years of people saying they weren't at AC just because they weren't good enough for it, not because they made the choice for a better lifestyle, both Sunwing and WestJet pilots would be in a very good position to realize there are a lot of pilots at both companies that are there bec...

Re: EXPECTED NUMBER OF RETIREES AT AC.
An important discussion. When people talk about their career advancement at AC they need to keep in mind that outside this hiring boom (which will slow before long here), the advancement doesn't happen quick when 100 people retire out of 5 or 6 thousand. Going to unfortunately be eye opening for so...

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
Alpa has a merger policy that people can take a look at. The primary driver will almost surely be date of hire. They can adjust and shift here and there, but if I was betting on it I'd say it'll look a lot like date of hire and some fences thrown up to keep people in their seats. Two companies with ...

Re: “I compete in Canada, so I need to be competitive in Canada,” - Mike Rosseau
The biggest change since the transition from ACPA to ALPA has been the messaging. ACPA was a voice from management to the pilots. ALPA is the voice of the pilots to management. Leadership from the top down has been completely unresponsive and doesn't seem to comprehend the shift in the employee rel...

The current Flight Ops team and CEO are not suited to the task ahead . They need to go. They are to abrasive and dismissive. "You will get what you negotiate, when you negotiate it, nothing more." This play is in stark contrast to what is happening just a few hundred miles south of us with CEO's of...

Re: Incorrectly logging instrument time
I think most pilots flying a high performance aircraft on an IFR flight plan are looking at their instrument panel, not out the window. Hard to maintain straight and level at FL380 otherwise. Personally I'd count all the time as IFR time unless someone at TC or elsewhere was specifically asking for ...

Yyz base -they make you park at the office in the farthest spot. You will have to walk 15 mins just to reach the terminal 3(sweaty in the summer, wet in the rain and dirty with all the slush and salt from walking on the dirty footpath). That road is also very unsafe to cross with lots of trucks and...

European carriers by EASA law are force to publish their schedule 14 days in advance, and I think some of the American majors had it in their last contract to be more than that but I can’t recall which one(s). Personally I think it should be 4-6 weeks ahead. This would be another "the government do...
