Re: BA versus YYZ controllers

Controllers are burned out? The system is not just failing controllers; everyone is burned out.

If someone cannot use an IFR frequency for its intended use then BOOK OFF.

Inflation from 1970 has been just under 4%.

$22000 in 1970 is worth $171000 in today's dollars.

Re: WJ Merger Committee should he ashamed

I recently learned that in the oil and gas sector an employee can bring their years of service with them when they change companies. A buddies spouse retired recently and recieves fully paid medical and dental benefits FOR LIFE. She worked for the last company for 5 years. No wonder we are looked do...

This has happened in Canada before. A jammer was left turned on inside a car at a YEG parkade. I believe Industry Canada has the ability to locate such devices and the matter was referred to the RCMP.

Re: Agreement in Principle reached

One thing not discussed vis-à-vis Canada and US pay is how the new duty regulations affect a pilots ability to earn. Prior to the pandemic OT was abundant and Canadian pilots despite our discount could make huge gains onto our base salaries. The new regs are a seismic sift for both Canadian companie...

I want to clarify these comments. If my airline assigns me to fly a WestJet route during the strike that makes me a scab? Do I have that right? [/quote] Crewbunk: I could not agree with you more. The "stink" of a scab never goes away. Time does not heal that wound nor does it lessen the memory of th...

Re: What’s going on Sunwing?

Phantom flight bookings is the new thing. Airlines are booking passengers on flights that they know will not happen in the future. They will make trips that have appealing time slots to lure you in, or at smaller bases. Then month before your trip you get blindsided with a red eye or airport change...

Re: How long to get YYC base

3 honest questions here: I personally have never heard of a system wide rebid. Is there precedence in North America for something like this at an airline WestJets size? In the scenario mentioned earlier where Swoop Captains are remade as FOs what happens to their pay? If their pay is reduced are the...

Topic Bump The C919 was certified airworthy last month. Does anyone have some working knowledge of the aircraft? The Chinese do not have a reputation for innovation but what is the story here? The discussion from 12 years ago raised concerns about quality. Are these concerns still valid? https://www...

Doing it part time this would be an extremely optimistic timeline: 2 years to being qualified as an instructor with ~80K of debt. 2 years instructing at 30-40K/year. 2 years right seat at Jazz/Encore at 35-45K/year 4 years at Ac 55/65/75/85K 15 years at 150K+ (let's say 175K on average) Over 25 yea...

The rules certainly get convoluted. Chew on this one: what if someone is trying to operate at a station where weather info is transmitted by AWOS only? I cannot be alone in my experience where the visibility reported by the AWOS is clearly worse than actual conditions. The rules say that AWOS vis is...
