Re: Ben Smith added to BOD

SkyTeam needs an alliance partner in Canada. Having Ben on the BOD is a strategic move. Ben wouldn't have done it randomly. Who knows if Gerry is going to sell parts of Westjet to AF/KLM and Delta?

Re: FO Private Jet or Jazz

So with that in mind, Jazz it is! I have accepted the offer and will be commencing on October 30. If anyone has any advice, feel free to send it my way. At the end of the day, I feel it will be an easier transition to return back to the corporate world should I find the airlines are simply not the ...

Re: Negotiations

Air Canada's treatment of Jazz pilots may stem from the power dynamics between the two organizations. Jazz pilots have a 17-year collective bargaining agreement that gives them less bargaining power and representation compared to their Air Canada counterparts. This power imbalance could potentially ...

Re: Negotiations

Don't forget that the language in MOS-7 doesn't prohibit AC to establish another CPA carrier. This is a moment to direct the MEC to ask Jazz & AC to include this language. The MEC could go back to negotiate language included to reopen the option to strike if PAL flying continues past October. Then ...

Re: Recession

The concept of zero-sum bargaining would be proven a failure at the next round of bargaining at AC. Management traded off a 2-year flat pay to a 4-year flat pay while they shifted the money to more senior pilots. Not exactly zero-sum but that's the concept. Don't confuse yourself with a snap-up clau...

Re: Negotiations

AC wants to wrap this all up before they start negotiating with the mainline pilots but don't expect anything better than this for the time being. This is a good deal for A-Scalers. It includes a one-time long service award, additional steps at the top of the scale that align with Porter's pay scale...

It also feels like we are getting into the same sort of scenario that contributed to Collagen Air's crash. The Colgan crew actually had some experience: Colgan’s flight records indicated that the captain had accumulated 3,379 hours of total flying time, including 3,051 hours in turbine airplanes, 1...

Re: Negotiations

A business plan based on smaller gauged aircraft is more than likely going to fail. Unless of course the proposed pay is equivalent to a NB aircraft. Not disagreeing that there is a pilot shortage. AC thinks that by shifting the business to another carrier will reduce labour cost. Labour costs incl...

Re: Sky regional 2.0

That’s right. AC will gravitate towards the lowest bidder. Hence, I was wrong. It won’t be PAL flying them. It will be Air Borealis up gauging to a 30 seater. In case you didn’t know, Exchange Income Fund has increased the size of their bought deal treasury offering of common shares at $52.25. They ...

Jazz was never going to operate the ES-30 on behalf of AC.

PAL will be well positioned to fly the ES-30 in 2028 under the AC Express banner rather than a “code share” partner.

Thyroid cancer is probably the most treatable type of cancer. Based on your description, you probably had papillary thyroid carcinoma and it was not metastasized. You probably go back to see your oncologist every 12 months and do some blood work to confirm that you are cancer free. It's really good ...
