Re: Sioux City DC10-History Channel

I'd love to get a copy of the movie "Crash Landing: The Rescue of Flight 232" with Charlton Heston.

Re: Canadians working in the EU?

For what it's worth, I've also heard the same thing from some contacts in the UK. Unfortunately I've asked a few people who could be in the know on both sides of the pond, and none of them have heard of anything. Some people insist that it will be in place by next year, but I very much doubt that. M...

Re: Overseas work with Canadian companies

What's the deal with Provincial Airways overseas? I haven't been able to get any info on that.

On the airline side of things, you have Skyservice and Sunwing with overseas work for part of the year.

Re: One Licence for Canada and Europe

I think you're both talking about different things. In terms of a Canadian licence being accepted in Europe, I'd love to see that. However, the standards are so different between the two, that I don't see this happening anytime soon without any drastic changes. Although I'm skeptical, I'd like to se...

Re: St.Hubert flying schools

I just did my 300NM to Montreal the other day, and stopped at YHU, and ended up fueling up at Cargair. Busy busy airport, and the Cargair folks were really nice. I am really shocked at how much traffic there was there, although it was well organized and never felt daunting. Good luck with your searc...

Re: Sunwing Vacations

Sunwing doesn't fly from Canada to Europe. They have aircraft based in Europe on wetlease, and fly on behalf of other airlines there. Typically these would be destinations in the Spanish or Greek islands, and other sun destinations for British tourists. Paddy, you take care of your own accommodation...

Re: And the Fuel Surcharges keep coming

I agree. I think additional fees like the fuel surcharge should be illegal. This is only a game to be able to advertise a lower ticket price vis-a-vis your competitors. I'm sorry, but if a ticket costs $500 but you add on a $50 fuel surcharge, then the actual cost is $550, and that's what should be ...

carholme and endless, point taken! That's unfortunate, because on paper it seems like a decent place to gain experience in the Toronto area. Too bad censorship has overtaken free speech on this online forum. Of course, PM's can't be censored

Thanks carholme, 18227 matches and probably 3 or 4 on LCE.

Does anybody have anything constructive to say about LCE? I wouldn't mind some info as well.

Re: Air Transat

Hey, I know that Transat has some very good interline connections. I believe Westjet, British Airways and Northwest are among the partners. As for the press release below, it's good that Transat are adding some much needed legroom in economy! Their Club Class product is very good, but I've always fo...

Re: Skyservice aircraft imports

The aircraft are mostly leased, with a couple of exceptions. However, it seems to be My Travel / Thomas Cook Airlines and First Choice / Thomson that control things with respect to ownership. Look at Skyservice almost as a Canadian subsidiary of the above two UK entities. It gets complicated with th...

Re: Has anyone here converted their Canadian ATPL to a JAA ATP?

This thread is good because I'm thinking of getting my JAA ATPL at some point. If there is more feedback from anybody else I'd love to see it! I guess getting the JAA ATPL will depend heavily on how the downturn in the economy affects the industry both here and on the other side of the pond.

Re: Skyservice aircraft imports

Sunwing also imports and exports aircraft on a seasonal basis. I believe Canada 3000 was the first Canadian airline to do this, by having a reciprocal agreement with a partner UK airline. This works well where mid-size (A320, 737, 757) aircraft are useful in Canada for the busy winter season, and vi...

Skyservice is hiring a few pilots right now, but if you haven't received a call yet, time is running out and you'll need an internal reference.

However, some Skyservice news hot off the press: http://www.canadanewswire.ca/en/release ... c2481.html

What are the realistic minimums these days for First Air? I know in years past they would take on low-timers facing sideways on the 727.

Yup, this aircraft also visited YXU and YYZ. I saw it take-off from YYZ from 15L or 15R towards the lake, and it then circled around the city area for a while. I lost sight of it after that, but I understand it went to YTR afterwards. It was very cool to see this aircraft taking off from YYZ though 8)
