Re: Management pressure: 2 Pilots YYC - FRA?

Unfortunately all the info above is verified by union emails Company pressured 2 pilots to go to Europe despite contravention to the contract Company also gave away personal information to hackers making RAICs compromised 2 pilots to Europe? That’s terrible! How did I do it for 37 years? Snowflakes...

GLA-YYZ

I’ve been retired a number of years so am not up to speed on the current duty regs. Today’s GLA-YYZ Air Transat flight had to stop in YUL for fuel. The pilots told the passengers that they couldn’t continue to YYZ without exceeding their duty day so another crew had to be brought in to operate the Y...

Re: Interview dress code

I’ve been retired 5 years so maybe standards have changed, however I’d suggest a suit.

Best of luck.

Not that I want to make this an " back in my day" thread...but "back in my day", when I was a youngun', we did 14 day pairings to India and Singapore. The pairing was: YYZ-LHR (2 DAY LAYOVER) LHR-BOM (2 DAY LAYOVER) DEL-SIN (1 DAY LAYOVER) SIN-BOM (2 DAY LAYOVER) BOM-LHR (2 DAY LAYOVER) LHR-YYZ Late...

Re: Porter Airlines shifts restart of flights date to June 29

Is there any actual news about Porter? They're supposed to resume flying on the 11th of February - they must be at least conducting the odd town hall or two by now... I think that unless the federal government gives financial aid to Porter it is unlikely to restart operations on its own. It's more ...

Re: Porter Airlines shifts restart of flights date to June 29

What kind of shape will Porter’s Q400’s be in after sitting for a year in a cold, damp climate?

Re: Porter Airlines shifts restart of flights date to June 29

So what’s the latest about restarting operations? February, spring, summer? Anyone know? Which year? :-) My prediction is a small return to service in June 2021. US travel restrictions will remain in place for the summer. Business travel will remain dormant and disappears during the summer months r...

challenger_nami

You say the closest airport to your friend that Westjet serves is 2 hours away. Can she get to her original destination through that airport? I don’t consider a 2 hour drive a hardship.

Re: Porter Problems

What makes me wonder is why Porter have not even tried to run a small operation during COVID. I can understand not operating to it’s 5 US destinations, even though Air Canada is, but there are 16 destinations in Canada that Porter serves. They could try to attempt a reduced service on some of those ...

If the deal is still ‘live’, which I suspect it’s not, it won’t be for $18/share.

Credible citations please...
Russian vaccine approved for use. Mass vaccinations to start in October.

Uh huh.... approved for use does not equal effective use :)
It doesn’t equal non-effective use either.

The word I hear is that if the US/CAN border isn’t open by August 31st, Porter doesn’t plan to restart at all.

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

If Air Canada really wanted Transat, instead of paying $18/share, why not go in there today and buy shares at $5? Hmmm, I think I answered my own question.

Curious as to the number seats in the A321neo. What sort of pitch in economy? How high can it get on a full load trans-Atlantic? What’s the cruising Mach number?

Re: Coronavirus Numbers

Because the UK government has closed non COVID related hospital departments and clinics there are 2700 missed cancer diagnoses each week. It’s been 6 weeks now. That’s 16,200 people walking around the UK with cancer that don’t know it.

Re: Coronavirus Numbers

Further to the conversation, life is a balance. For instance, there are approximately 5000 automobile accident deaths each year in Canada. We could reduce that number to close to zero simply by reducing the speed limit to 20 kilometers per hour. We don't reduce the speed limit because it would ruin ...
