Re: YYZ inefficiency

Staffing I’m more curious about why we get issued massive slowdown and vectors only to be sped up and given a shortcut from the next sector. Speed up, slow down, vectors for spacing, direct DUTIR or (whatever DTW waypoint) best forward, no restrictions. We can only talk to one person at a time. Whe...

Re: TC Class 2 Aviation Medical Certificate Question - Suboxone

Some doctors will fight for you more than others. I would suggest going on to the pilot part of this forum (cat 1 and 2 are very similar) and seeing what CAMEs in your area are the more litigious type.

Re: Offers and Class start dates 2024

Does anyone know when IFR offers generally go out? or the start dates for Fall classes? I just finished my interview and now have a status of "Eligible for Offer". I know it can take a while to actually get and offer, but if I knew the general timelines I would have a better idea of when I might ge...

Re: cost to train a new recruit?

Where do you get 5 years from? People tend to think of just instructors salary but add in the entire training team from IPS, TDI, MALD, LQS, IDS, OTS just to mention a few, then the figure grows quickly. I’m not here to substantiate the figures though, just posting what Nav Canada claims to be the ...

Re: Experience Transferring Application

I've heard of deferring a course for 6 months but not more than a year. Keep in mind that just because you have an offer now doesn't preclude more competitive applicants from materializing later. Transferring an offer isn't really a thing. You can ask, they might say no. You are coming from YYZ whic...

I'm gonna say this once to hopefully put an end to this.

**Stop worrying about your Workday status.** Worry about what the email says. If you got an email saying you passed/failed your Feast/Interview, it doesn't matter what the Workday status is, only what the email says.

Re: February 2024 Interview Group

… it's unlikely candidates undergoing FEAST this month are going to be considered for Spring 2025 courses, but I'm just guessing. Don’t think this is true. Applicants not already in the “eligible for offer” pool may be too late for a fall VFR offer (but maybe not, and that’s why there’s a quick tur...

Would you say the test outlines clear expectations for each sub-test that is provided? In other words, are the instructions clear?
yes but the scoring isn't

Re: YVR post-interview offers

Looks like the 16 IFR spots have been filled for a Feb course already. Next VFR course likely in late spring, not sure if it's filled yet. Edit: Generally only 1 IFR course is run per year, so the next opportunity is likely Feb/March of 2025 How far in advance do offers tend to go out? Usually they...

It really can be anywhere between 1 week and 3 years. Though most people who get an offer do so within 6 months.

Re: Nav Canada Referral Program

From what I remember, the referral program guarantees an invite to the Feast. So it's not a slam dunk. Honestly I'd just write the online test. In my experience, if you have trouble with the online test, you'd have even more trouble with the Feast. I'm sure others might disagree though.

Thanks for the reply! This is good to know. Gander is my first pick, but I would move to moncton in a heartbeat if I could get an IFR offer. I see you mentioned that everyone who passes feast will get an email for an interview. Is this only for people who pass FSS and ATC, or also people who are on...

Re: Feast Results

From what I know everyone who passed Feast gets an invitation to an interview. The issue is that it's first come first serve, and there are typically fewer interview slots than invitees. So in terms of getting an interview spot, how early you open that email is as important as how highly you scored....

Re: YYZ Fall VFR

I would suggest looking at student housing for one of the universities in the area. Look at UTM, York, Centennial. Generally speaking the landlords near colleges are scummier than the ones near universities. You can look for sublets where people let for 4-8 months at a time, usually beginning on Ja...

Depends when you apply. I'm hearing now that the application process itself (from application to offer and your class date) is getting shorter but the class dates are also further out.

Re: YVR post-interview offers

I've heard nothing yet. People talk of a 2-3 year onboarding process, which is a bit concerning. At that point, I'll be pretty deep into another career, and then taking a paycut down to 45k/year (especially hard in Vancouver lol) with a 30% success rate in training is a pretty huge gamble (I applie...

Re: Air Canada pilot not giving back the item I paid for nor my money

You are correct that there was an offer, consideration, and acceptance. In case of breach of contract - which in this case is true - the distressed party (the buyer, and original poster) is entitled to a remedy. Given that the selling party is taking measures to return the money via the e-transfer e...
