Re: The Wise Pilot - Feedback
I wrote my PPAER on 11/11 and I got 95%. I did my ground school on Harv's Air (pilottraining.ca) but I also did the practice exams on Wise Pilot. Some questions were straight out of the Wise Pilot, so I can say I highly recommend them. Worth the 23 bucks for me. You can use ROC2PPL or PSTAR2PPL for ...

Re: Funding flight training
I'm in the co-op program at my university, so I'm earning money whilst on co-op and using that money to fly.

Re: Aviation medical
No worries for concern. That's their default reply when you inquire about the status, but they don't have any updates yet. The service standard is 40 business days so if you did it July 23, expect to hear back by September 18. But it may take a week or two extra. Good luck!

Re: Aviation Internships
Hey 9/16, I'm majoring in environmental studies. I'm not looking for a "pilot" co-op per se as I don't have my CPL, but student co-op opportunites in the aviation industry, as I have not seen much being offered here in Canada - most are full time only and require years of experience. I'm not looking...

Aviation Internships
Hi there, I'm entering year three of my co-op degree at university, specializing in aviation. It's always been my dream to be a pilot, and I'm looking for a co-op/internship to broaden my understanding of the aviation industry and to make meaningful connections with fellow pilots, airport workers, a...

Re: Sending a update to TC?
You'll have to give the documents to your CAME and then he/she will forward them to TC on your behalf. You can then call TC a few days later to make sure they recieved your documents.

Re: Abnormal ECG for Category 1 Medical
Well guys, it looks like my medical has been approved today! I am beyond delighted. "Flexibility has been applied to the CARs medical standards, and you have been assessed as Fit Unrestricted for Category 1 Medical Certificate." I'm very grateful I didn't have to wait years to get it. It's been seve...

Re: AMRB Meeting
Thanks for your perspectives everyone. Dan, the aviation gods must have been on your side... I am truly in the 8th layer of bureaucratic hell right now.. I just received a call like ten minutes ago from a No Caller ID and it turned out to be the TC Ontario Regional Office, but not from one of the us...

Thanks for the info, Bede. I've been hearing the wildest timeframes - from once a season to every two weeks. No clue what's even going on up there at TC..

Re: Abnormal ECG for Category 1 Medical
Update 4 I asked my CAME's office if they got the reports directly from the cardiologist and they didn't. So I have retrieved the reports from my family doctor. She was in a rush to leave so she forgot to give me the last few pages, so I had to go back the next day and get them back. Included in thi...

Re: Abnormal ECG for Category 1 Medical
Update 3 I went to my cardiologist yesterday, and good news - he told me everything is normal, as I expected. He said I have a straight back, common in skinny people like me, meaning my chest doesn't protrude outward as much as normal, making me appear "thin." So, my chest cavity would be smaller so...

What do I do with Transport Canada Medical Fees
Hi everyone, I got this email that told me I had to pay $65.96 for getting my Category 4 medical. Here's what it said: Your request was received on 5/31/2024 and has been entered into our workflow tracking system. Fee Amount: $65.96. Regulatory fees are payable in advance. If your fee has not yet be...

Re: Abnormal ECG for Category 1 Medical
Thank you Dan, I will make sure to request that report be made specifically to TC's requirements and for a letter to be included stating I'm at no greater risk of sudden incapacitation. I did call my CAME last week and the nurse said that once I get the report from cardio, tell them and they'll get ...

Re: Abnormal ECG for Category 1 Medical
Update 2 I've just finished the testing required. I am now wearing a Holter monitor and will be until tomorrow afternoon. When I went to the heart centre, they first measured my blood pressure. They then put an IV in my arm and some saline. I then did the "stress test," where the doctor sandpapered ...

Re: Abnormal ECG for Category 1 Medical
Update - I've gone to my GP and I was referred to see a cardiologist at a heart centre later today. Although the letter from TC only asked for a Holter monitor and an echocardiogram, they are insisting that I do a stress echocardiogram as well. Any know if I need an echocardiogram specifically as pe...

Re: Abnormal ECG for Category 1 Medical
Thank you everyone for your replies. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with RBBB, especially when I could barely find any information about this online or on this forum. I'm going to my GP today so she can refer me to a cardiologist, so hopefully I can get the tests done soon. I just know I'll h...

Re: Abnormal ECG for Category 1 Medical
Thank you for your thoughful reply Dan (I assume that's your name). I just started my flight training much like you did when you got your first medical - but I've gotten my Cat. 4 declaration (not the actual medical) and my instructor said he can accept that so I can at least get beyond the first so...

Abnormal ECG for Category 1 Medical
Hi all, I recently bugged TC for the status on my medical, and they finally got back to me yesterday. They are requesting some more information (24 hour Holter monitor, echocardiogram, all cardio medical records) because I may have "right branch bundle block (RBBB)" and they want to rule out heart d...

Thoughts about Near North Aviation??
I just found out there's a school near Hamilton called Near North Aviation. I can't find much reviews about them on here, Reddit, or Google, and they seem to have opened up there not too long ago.

Is losing your medical common?
Hey guys, First post here - I'm just wondering if losing your medical is as common as everyone is saying it is. I'm currently doing a 3 year degree in Environmental Sciences and I plan to get my licenses and ratings in my second year of university. But everywhere I've looked people are always like g...
