Re: Controlled vfr in class B

That seems pretty clear but it does not explicitly state flight levels appropriate for Cvfr flight in class B space I would determine for reading this that one should use IFR altitudes based upon the direction of flight in these conditions. But i could easily be wrong It isn't a question of what al...

In QM ACC we have 1 receiver/transmitter for VHF/UHF guard. It is monitored 24/7 at one sector only.

Came across this and found it to be a good read: SOLVING THE FIGHTER DILEMMA A Full Competition is the Only Way By Paul Manson Back in March, 1977, Pierre Trudeau’s Liberal Government, seeking to replace the Air Force’s three existing fighter fleets with a single aircraft type, ordered a full scale...

Re: IFR- "Auto Over"

I have heard this term twice, while a controller's mic was stuck open, just before his sector was ready to split and have seen this on CBC Tv, during the visit to the Vancouver ACC, a data board strip that says "Auto over." I did a Google search and found a definition "ATC controller's radar perfor...

3. What happens if you lose your medical a few years after you start work? Are you screwed like a pilot? Or does Nav Canada take care of you (I.E give you another job?) Unless there is an office job available that you can apply on and win the competition, you are out of luck. Once all your sick ben...

Re: Porter Q400 Near Miss with Drone

I will have to tell you that a drone doesn't have the ability to fly at 9,000 feet or nearly 2745 m. A drone fly at 200m. 300m max is less than 1000 feet. I know pipo king is on his first post, so maybe he's a troll, but just in case... Service ceiling of the DJI Phantom 4 (which is high-end, but s...

Hi Guys, I am looking for a bit of help / advice please..... I am a UK based Area Controller. However, due to being born in Canada, I have dual citizenship. Do you know if Nav Canada accepts applications from experienced overseas Controllers? And, if so, the best way to go about applying? Many than...

Re: Has anyone in Moncton FIR received a call for an in-person interview?

It is under the Recruitment and Training section, Important Dates.

Upcoming Assessment Sessions –

Moncton – November 17th, 2016

That would imply it is the in person testing done at the ACC.

I understand that this process can be exciting and stressful. But honestly this is the sort of thing that you should be directing to the company, not an online forum. Do what Braun said, call them and then post the answer here for the benefit of others. Good luck.

Re: YYZ pilot questions

Agreed on the STARS postmaster, and agreed on the reasons they don't do this at YYZ, ZBBYLW. Now the question is, why is the entire thing even structured this way, putting arrivals and departures in conflict unless the controller intervenes and cancels the published restrictions? Brutal. I've heard...

Re: ATC Survey, Please Help

Good point MAC. What really needed is a program where pilots come in to visit various ATC units and see what happens in the tower cab and on the radar screen, and controllers need flights in the cockpit where they can see the pilots' workload and get a better understanding of what the plane can and...

Just in case the controller isn't expecting you to proceed in a certain direction. "N785FD, a Boeing 757-200 operated by Federal Express, was operating as flight FX121 from Edmonton Intl, AB (CYEG) to Memphis Intl, TN (KMEM). During the ascent to its cruise altitude, FX121 was cleared to maintain F...
