Re: Road Shows

I don't have any skin in this game, but have a few questions regardless. Did the max days of work stay at 16? Or did it slip to 17? Are there any major changes to the way you guys/gals can pick up draft/OT? What were you guys looking for/not wanting to give up vs what seems to have come down the pip...

Re: Air Canada Pool

Congrats to those getting in now. The future is bright for AC with expansion plans and retirements to start in another few years. For those just getting on property now and in the bear future I am of the belief that by the end of the first four years there should be exciting room to move up.

As a guy working for West jet 's maim competitor (and the airline this treat was made for, leave the cheap shots out of it. Yes it's a bit different (which i dont feel pilots should do) that they help clean their own airplane but fill I'm for an FA? That's a bit much. We should not try and create a ...

I think he is talking about new hire pay which has in fact increased with the 75 hour gaurentee. Plus the extra pay increase for new hires which is higher than inflation.

Hi Cossack, not sure which airline requires a takeoff clearance prior to an engine run, it may be because one of their crews had the power up and without thinking about it commenced a take off roll.. I could very easily see how this could happen on a dark night or early mor...

The one thing about AC though is you could do what ever you want once you have the seniority. If you want to go skiing on layovers we have long YVR, YDF (Marble Mountain), LAX (Rent a car and go to Bear Mountain), If you want to me home every night stay senior and hold productive multi days or day ...

SYD is east. You just go west to get to it! Everyone has their own preference. Lots of people love TLV being by the beach and all. Others hate it for various reasons (some don't feel comfortable). Some like beaches, others pubs and others recreation (skiing/hiking). It depends what you like. I'd rec...

Re: Westjet pax way more disruptive

It would definitely not explain every situation however a larger portion of AC's pax are business travellers. WS is much bigger than AC in the friends and family flying to Cancun/PVR/Varadero crowd. I would assume that "typically" this is the crowd to get in trouble. Note that Sunwing have had their...

Re: PC 12 De-Ice Equipment

The 320 only has Engine Intake Anti Ice and only Anti Ice protection on the outer half of the wing, it's funny to park beside a 737 after an approach in ice, because Boeing and Airbus have a completely different idea with the 737 only protecting the inner half, and the outer half on the Airbus.

Re: YYZ 24R

This confused me as I was arriving a month or so ago, through centre we were told GP was US. Okay that's simple enough as we are now going to have to set up for the Loc approach. Then we get cleared the ILS for 24R and the controller did not mention the GP U/S. I understand that the rules are there ...

If it is almost all the stations perhaps there is more to the story. It reminds me of going up to one such remote location on a weekly basis. The weather was usually always crap there (in fact in my time there I never was able to not shoot the approach). When we were first in radio range we would co...

Re: Pet Peeve (Takeoff)

The plane I fly it is 1/2 forward stick until 80 kts, progressively reduced to neutral by 100 its and then a rotation at Vr. In a x-wind or t-wind it actually recommends full forward stick instead of 1/2.

Every airplane gets flown their own way.

Re: LOP = Low on Pfuel

It's illegal to take off with less than required fuel + reserves. Once you're in the air, airmanship dictates how you use your fuel (going into reserves, changing alternates (or deciding to burn into your alternate fuel and dropping it)). You made your decision which admittedly does sound "rather br...

Typical questions may include: do you have any dignity? Rhetorical question. If you say yes they know you'll PFO them! Honestly though while some people have worked shitty jobs to make it to Team Red or Teal lets be real here. This IS the cancer in our industry. If you and many other highly qualifi...

Re: Have questions for YYZ Tower? Ask them here!

The rough guide would be that if you are coming in from Linng or YWT then expect a southerly runway...if you are coming in from FLINE or IMEBA expect a northerly runway. RAGID...50/50. This is my problem it seems! If I am on a curfew restricted flight I seem to be coming from YYT/YDF or YHZ on the ...

Re: Have questions for YYZ Tower? Ask them here!

A couple questions about arrivals. During the 0630 post noise abatement rush, most of us will start decent prior to 630. Is there anyway that the ATIS can reflect the post 0630 runway usage? If it were to include ARIVAL RUNWAY 15L active but expecting RUNWAY X and Y at ZZ time it would help out. Usu...

Re: Have questions for YYZ Tower? Ask them here!

Married a Canadian, Yes the winds in YYZ are always good for a laugh. On the particular morning about a week ago the winds were less than 10 kts but they were out of the west, and I suppose while we can accept a small tailwind component, I suppose the SCL/GRU in bounds in their heavy machines may be...

Re: Have questions for YYZ Tower? Ask them here!

With the noise abatement night hour preferential runways favouring 15L (I believe until either 6 or 630am) why is it hardly in use? I often fly the red-eyes home from the west coast and if on the YMS arrival typically we will break it off for 24L or 23. It's not such a big deal really but after bein...

Transat pays their pilots less than WS pays their pilots for the first few years. Hardly a bench mark I'd like to use. How about compare it to AC's 330 drivers.. With the better productivity at WS you could make that argument.

Re: May 1 startup day Air Georgian

Since when does R1 fly for AC? I thought R1 helped GGN get their sh!t in order and used their OC but was GGN not supposed to operate all these flights? What a joke. Although I would imagine the R1 pay is better than the GGN guys.. How many airplanes/crew does GGN have to operate?
