50th Anniversary of Moon Landing

Here's a link to a post with a number of activities in the U.S. that you may want to build into any summer travel plans you have. 50th Anniversary No sense clicking the link if you happen to be one of the people who believes it never really happened. But even then you could still go to one in...

Re: Reading the forums Could Prevent a Disaster like the 737 Max

Try passing on some info. Actually the below thread was awesome for that. Whole bunch of different pilots passing on their personal scary flights or errors in judgement. It's interesting not everyone chooses to share. I wonder why? http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=132382 Ridicule...

Re: How to improve flight training.

Here's a question - if you were designing the world's first airplane with today's infrastructure of predominantly paved runways so that prop clearance and roughness of the operating surface wan't a primary concern, would you build in dynamic instability that would manifest itself almost solely in t...

Re: How to improve flight training.

I believe that a good instructor is a good instructor regardless of what machine they are teaching on I cannot share that opinion. An instructor who is competent on one/some types, could be an ineffective instructor on other types! Would a good instructor in a 152/172/182 also be a good person to t...

Anyone that misses PDW should starting pulling off their fingernails, one each day for 10 days. On the 11th day you'll miss not having another one to pull off. That'll get you over it.

Re: Park Brake on for Takeoff

It is unknown how poor the acceleration was. If it was obvious, one would think there would be a quick RTO. Perhaps it was just a general suspicion but not confirmed. It can be a difficult thing to analyze. I completely agree and that's why I said I normally don't like to second guess after the fac...

Re: Park Brake on for Takeoff

Personally I'm not a real fan of parking brakes for anything but parking. They aren't called run-up brakes after all. I really don't like second guessing after accidents/incidents but can't help myself this time. The thing that gets me is that the pilots apparently admitted noticing that the ...

I like the way you want people to think that you have 1500 hours and yet this is the 1st time you've used the internet. One, or both, of those things is likely false. But maybe I'm just grumpy because my Mom made me stay in my basement room because I didn't get the lawn mowed. But really, I s...

Re: Do you check your killer items just prior to takeoff?

Much of this sounds a bit like having checklists to check the checklists. If there really are items you need to have an internal checklist to cover (not things you do just for your own peace of mind) then shouldn't you be reporting it to the company you work for or the people who own the ...

Re: Stateside on route freq

Maybe no common frequency is their solution to getting rid of the exasperating annoyance of ACTPLA! Seriously though, they have way more aircraft flying to way more airports and without a common enroute frequency there's not carnage in the skies. Is it possible that a congested common frequency isn'...

Idle Sunday morning curiosity, but I wonder how many pilot's lives/careers have been significantly damaged due to a bond and how many companies have been significantly impacted by shortages due to pilot's bailing very soon after starting? Not theoretically but actually. And actually damaged, not jus...

That linked article is more a "rah, rah" booster article than well researched business info, IMHO. Below is a Stats Can sourced list of air traffic. Edmonton International isn't do any better than any other airport in Canada, at least since 2010. And City Centre closed in 2013 with no significant eff...

That being said, he did also stated that structural damage was rare, although they change the tiedown ring regularl...

Re: COPA for Kids pilots now require police check

Reasons for the checks, are to protect the kids! Simple as that. I'll ask again - protect them from what? Has there ever been a case of child molestation at any CFK or Young Eagles volunteer flight program? You can't say your protecting anybody if the event you're concerned about has never happened...
