Re: EAA AirVenture Oskosh July 20 - 26 2020
It seems that Sun n Fun is still tentatively scheduled for May 5 - 10. Possibly optimistic but that's one of the worst things right now - the uncertainty of everything. As for Oshkosh - I'll be doing everything I possibly can to go again. It's an absolute highlight of every year I've managed to be t...

Re: Operating different machines.
Completely agree .. However, I find it hard to separate all the different facets that are involved in this kind of comparison and it just seemed that the ultimate worse outcome of poor operation was a piece of the overall picture. I guess if I was talking basic, day-to-day operations then trucks mig...

Re: Operating different machines.
I realize that difficulty of operation doesn't directly relate to accidents/death as a result but certainly there is a somewhat causational link. Anyway, that's the way my thoughts went as it seems to me that any difficult activity with the risk of injury is that much more so if death is possible. H...

Mooney Kaput?
According to this article from AOPA it seems that Mooney has shut the doors. Can't find much more about it on the web right now and Mooney's website is still up as normal. Would definitely be bad news for any owners if it's true. https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2019/november/13/mooney-f...

An Instructor that actively teaches students to say that simply cannot be considered as excellent.Beefitarian wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 10:38 am Here's one. "Any conflicting traffic please advise." Is being taught as proper radio procedure by real life instructors. I am not joking.
Some of these instructors are excellent in my opinion.

Re: Strong headwinds cause crash?
Have flown "backwards" any number of times in 152/172 during slow flight exercises. Never lost altitude as a result and never stalled unexpectedly. I'd guess perhaps some lack of awareness was at fault - and that's nothing new.

Re: Commercial Solo Time Requirement
I'm confused a bit - the decision posted related to a PPL cross country and wouldn't apply to a CPL. I agree that a PPL should, and I think in almost all cases does, happen in one day and certainly under supervision. A PPL student typically doesn't have the skill or experience to venture very far on...

Re: okotoks flight school
In an ideal world, instructors would only be retired pilots who are highly experienced but that's not the case, I don't agree with this opinion. First of all, teaching abinitio students is a lot of repetitive work that requires significant effort and the commitment to a lot of student's individual ...
