Re: Amphibs

Re: Aircraft Insurance

For my cessna 185 with 1400 on type & commercial & ifr rated March & Copa couldn't come close & asked me if I knew that the 185 was a taildragger to boot.Save almost $1500 on floats & almost $2000 on wheels going with Park.I'm upgrading to amphibs this fall & didn't even bother with anyone else.I do...

Re: BCs annual float fly-in at Nimpo Lake July 18-19

Don't forget to watch the density altitude at Nimpo Lake.Elevation is 3665 without any corrections. On a hot day with no wind it can be very hard to get out of the water, especially from late morning, with no wind if heavily loaded.
Have a safe flight.

Re: KD Air Shutting down due to YVR 2010?

I went to one of the airspace update meetings & as a bonus got to view to"Olympic Airspace Restrictions".They alleged that the US is governing the airspace restrictions & as a result your ability to fly in the orange zone will be severely restricted & no fly red zone is a "we don't care who you are,...

Re: Initial Callups and Readbacks

I was taught to listen before speaking & then give my aircraft type, ident & current atis name & then let atc answer before giving current position & intentions.A couple of years ago during meetings with atc personel about airspace changes I was told to give the whole speal on contact to save questio...

Re: Category 1 Medical - When's it coming!?

I am probably wrong;but all my paperwork went in the same envelope to Transport Canada from the examining doctor & was reviewed before the bill was sent to me.Had anything been wrong they would have cancelled my medical & still sent the bill.

Re: Nimpo Lake for breakfast

The Dean has a dock you can tie up to but it may be pricy, the bakery(as mentioned above) is nice & cheap too & not too far to walk. You could also give Mary @ Nimpo Lake Resort a call as she may feed you if you call first & ask her.Nimpo should be free within the next week though so if you're patient...

Contact Logan ,he lives in Nimpo lake.if you're planning on visiting during the bcfa annual gathering then Ocean Falls is about an hour or so from there. You could stop at Bella Coola on the way back for fuel if needed.

Re: 185 pictures

Do you prefer wheels,or floats for the 185?

The front page of the skywagons.org has some nice shots as well;& airliners.net has lots of 180/185 shots on their site.

What are you doing with the shots? I could ask the BC Floatplane Association to ask their members if they have any side shots of airborne 185's kicking around.
