Re: VFR and CFIT

DAR,

Pop quiz? (pun intended!) can one pick up an IFR clearance in Finland once airborne a la “pop up clearance” that our neighbours to the South have?

Re: VFR and CFIT

Failure to maintain enough situational awareness to prevent hitting earth or an obstacle. The weather is not the problem, it's failing to keep the plane in the correct place in space, pointed the right way! Worse, it's the temptation to allow automation to take you somewhere you should not go, beca...

Stateside on route freq

Hi all, I found myself flying down low, VFR in uncontrolled airspace stateside today. (A bit of a change as I am always on an IFR plan and up in the flight levels!) Slightly puzzled, I enquired with Cleveland approach what frequency I should be monitoring on COM 2 as they were providing on route fli...

I have lurked on this forum for a long time but now it's time to weigh in on substance. 5. Distrust the average pilot in your company to accurately fly manually during an emergency. I have no concerns about Western pilots (Canadian, US, Mexican, Western European, Japanese). I quote you as an absolu...

Re: Calling it quick

As the machines we are flying get lighter(as a general structural statement), one needs to be more conservative in the weather conditions they fly in. I cancelled a flight in a Light Sport Aircraft a couple of months ago as it was kind of windy at about 25 knots and in a somewhat mountainous area. ...

[/quote] However, I will look further into what the TSB recommended for mitigation of this issue. I still think my idea of large electronic signs with a flashing, bright HOLD on either side of the taxiway at the hold short line(controlled by ATC like the low vis red lines) is a practical and relativ...

Only problem is if they're all image pages I can't predict how much I can shrink it. PM me if you want me to do it and I'll send my email to you. Dan What a great base line! I seco...

Finally the trial starts. Do you take solace in that? I highly doubt that anyone goes out to perform a display only to narrowly escape death themselves. Hopefully there will be a sufficient number of CADOR’s coming up to revoke the decision to close the tower before a major accident happens. Are you saying that Encore does not pay for accommodations during your six week training session??? wtf-How much cheaper do they get? I'm utterly disgusted by the industry in Canada at this point...Paid accommodation should be a basic part of ones initial course.

Perhaps 12 hours gives more time to recover from a hangover. Something that can't be detected but has an effect. Of course, one can call in sick, as if that actually happens at some remote overnight layover location up north. O% at report does not mean zero hangover. A lot of pax may prefer that th...
