Re: Is a single engine ifr rating useless?

I did my single IFR first and was happy I did, Later when I doing my Multi and flying around paying $6 a minute I was grateful I had done it before when it was cheaper.

Re: PPC Bonds

Most bonds say if your fired "Due to Cause" then your probably on the hook to pay.
They would have needed to give you notice and warnings in advance that go with a proper legal firing depending on if you were still in the probation period or not.

+1 Rookie I fly piston single pilot and I also fly jets and sometimes you just need to disengage the autopilot and hand fly while it sorts itself out or you figure out what is wrong. Children on the Magenta anyone? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pN41LvuSz10 It used to be a problem of the Jet guys bu...

Re: Least-expensive IFR GPS options in Canada

You only pay 13% tax on the difference between the old plane and the new one if you use a broker. I imagine the cheapest option would be to sell my plane and buy another used one with an IFR GPS already installed, but my plane flies sweetly, in great trim, with almost nothing but routine maintenance...

Re: TSA Required for all US airspace overflights

They are saying a plane with 5 days or less notice might not be safe to fly over the USA without landing. But the same plane with 2 hours notice can fly and land anywhere in the USA. I hear rumours that this notams days are numbered. If not I hope that someone in Newfoundland and Labrador writes a s...

Re: What kind of shoes do you wear?

I am wearing Clarks Expresso Black Leather I like a small heel on a shoe because sitting for hours a larger heel is less comfortable ( it makes your toes point) and also gets in the way. Make sure they area all black, no white thread that will forever be a pain to polish around. Shiny usually means ...

Re: B.C. Supreme Court enforces training bond agreement

What costs can the employer use to determine the bond amount? In this case her bond was for $25,000 (Can) The USD/CAD exchange was close to Par in 2012 Her bill at CAE Dallas would have been $15,500 or maybe less since Carson had a bunch of pilots on course and maybe got a better rate. Plus an ACP t...

You need a bunch more time and experience to crack into corporate, airlines would be the fastest way or medevac. A lot of guys around here are old medevac drivers and as a result would be impressed/sympathetic if they see that on a resume. Personally Id say don't bounce around too much from company ...

Yes it can be done
and Yes its a bad idea
It's a lot of risk for no reason, and since your posting in the FT forum I assume its a rental 172 and you early in your flying career.
By all means practice it at another longer strip like you suggest, but leave it at that.

Geeze Hotrocks you have a gift with words...... yes I am a corporate pilot and no I didn't flunk out of airline school to get here. Id say compared to my airline buddies the flying is alot more interesting, the pay is initially better (after 10 yrs they will make more) and I fly alot less per month....

The interface between Fltplan.com and their Go App is awesome and I use both and all the free Geo-referenced charts. The info is easier, faster to access, and more complete using the Ipad. Armchair the Snowbirds do more than inspire pilots to join the military, they are the backbone of most airshows, airshows that sometimes raise funds for specific causes. Airshows that non flying, tax paying, voting citizens of our country attend and might walk away with a better understanding of the...

Maybe this type doesnt like max climb up high? You wouldnt think climbin...
