Re: Using the transponder

Leave it on at large US airports like Washington Dulles (KIAD). I got heck for turning my transponder to standby. The Airport Surface Detection ASDE-X needs it.
Here's the other airports and an explanation

Re: Twotter flyby

Samson, your response is brilliant! Teacher if your listening to 3 comm's at once (cause we all have 3 comm's don't we?) and everybody is talking twice as much as they need to, and you don't a problem with that. Then your the problem I guess. If another plane is truly in conflict and you have a coup...

Re: Twotter flyby

He was over here in Stratford Friday......Anybody know the pilot? Can you ask him to stop saying "ANY CONFLICTING PLEASE REPLY C-G??? ON 122.8" at the end of his position reports?

IT'S ANNOYING, and unessesary.

Re: Fredericton Airport CEO on our Air Transport Policy

A very informative and well written letter by Mr. Innes. I live in the London Ontario area and most people choose a 2hr drive to Detroit over a 1.5 hr drive to Toronto. I dont even check Toronto flights anymore for US or International destinations..... It took the government 20 years to get me to st...

Re: New Toronto VNC/VTA

The previous VNC had alot good points however....... lets not dwell on the good when we can whine about the trivial stuff. If I am VFR eastbound North of Toronto on an assigned VFR route, Altitude, and freq...... is Orangville as close as you can let me to YYZ? If a pilot is sharp enough to get with...

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!

Just looked at the video off the Ice Pilots website of the Electra landing. Look at the gravel the inboard props are picking up once reverse thrust is applied. Man the north is hard on props.... I think on last weeks show they said a prop overhaul was $75,000. http://www.icepilots.com/fleet_electra....

Re: New Toronto VTA

To their credit all the lat/long"s are there right on the chart but the day I flew it I was bumpin alond at 2500 (thanks to Pearson ATC) so i put the first one in and that was enough. If I put the first and the last waypoint in for the route I could figure out the middle points out.

New Toronto VTA

I want to say its a pretty good map overall... really good actually But i wouldn't be a pilot is I didn't dwell on all it's shortcommings so here they are 1. The 3 East/West routes north of YYZ..... Eastbound, you would think if a Pilot is on the ball enough to fly a published route and a published ...

Re: Whats With YYZ Lately??

IFRATC I do appreciate your reply to my post and all the others and your comments even though super sarcastic do shed light on the subject Depending on the config. bedpost altitudes are between 60 to 100T And I don't expect 20 jets to work around me as they climb and turn south but they could have w...

Re: Whats With YYZ Lately??

Criusing at 8,500 from Montreal to London. called in east of Oshawa... got a cylinder cracking decent to 2500 and asked to hurry up! then sent over city center... If they were using 36 I might have understood but they werent...... just not willing to work 150kt VFR traffic as usual... I'd love one o...
