Hey he didn't go all Germanwigs, at least it was one fully insured Caravan and some cancelled cheques. Evaluating ones "state of mind" could easily become a question your CAME has to answer.

Can either a amateur(homebuilt) airplane with a full EFIS panel or an OM airplane be certified for IFR ops.

This may sound odd but is it a private or public lake, the float planes may well be own by a "resident" or have permission. I only point this out because I bumped up against this condition on a lake in the Muskoka's this past Summer.

I would love to be a "fly on the wall" when you tell that to the many remote villages in this vast country that DON'T have an airport. I would bet however that they a couple of good nearby lakes to scoop from, good luck Sir !!!!!!

I'm not sure the type rating should be a qualifier, unless your "poaching" for currency. A type rating is of little value after 2 years since an initial course will be required anywa, IFR currency yes but type rating !!!!

While each cases is clearly different I have personally flown commercially with two pilots on restored medicals post heart events.
