Quote,

"And the argument that "Air Canada had to approve any changes" well, they all now have HUDs"

Not a very observant fellow are you, they all had HUD's when you received them from SKV !!!!!

Re: sky regional airlines first officers E175 job add.

Those planes were flying for a US regional for 4 years before hitting Sky. They are 4 years older than any other Q in the Jazz fleet. I don't think the galley, the small bins, the old seats, the unlinked FMSs, the ACARS, the no WAAS or the circuit breakers have anything to do with Sky Regional. That...

Re: sky regional airlines first officers E175 job add.

Quote from above post,

"And they're all garbage airplanes that everyone hates flying."

What did that add to the conversation. It must cause you deep personal anguish to operate an fin that has SR in it's civil registration !!!!!!

Re: This is NOT the aviation of 5 years ago

I have no knowledge of your company but what I'm noticing is KARMA in action, industry wide. The companies that where "predatory" in their operational style are now the ones finding it hard to fill seats.

Re: DC-3 / C-46 Ramp Slave

"Well that post looking for a FO includes "maintains flight watch over all Buffalo airways aircraft", along with a number of other ridiculous job requirements.. Kind of hard to do full time in the right seat of an airplane, no?" There are many posters on this sight who have done this and much more. ...

Re: Union at Sky

Finally someone has presented a point of view that others of reasonable intent may stand behind, thank you Cavalier44. If the discussions are kept to a reasonable tone, with logical intentions many more will listen closer. The larger question however is, do we need a union to get to that point or ca...

Re: Union at Sky

So if a regional unionizes and works towards the same terms & conditions as their mainline affiliate at what point do they run the risk of becoming "relevant" operationally and financially.

Re: Union at Sky

In an effort to "inform" myself on the value and the pros & cons of a union I'm left with this thought. If we make the assumption that a union is intended to improved the working conditions within a given company how is it that a person who's stated intentions are to move via the PML should have an ...

Re: Union at Sky

Is there a risk that the PML elevates training expense over the short term thereby reducing the ROI and elimination could provide funds that may be "redirected" elsewhere (i.e. salaries for the higher seniority numbers). As I understand it the PML was a tool to generate interest in joining a regiona...

Re: Union at Sky

Here's a thought, If following the formal establishment of a union all future terms & conditions become negotiable and the negotiating committee is comprised of the upper echelons with no intentions of moving to the mainline doesn't that put the PML at risk for better terms and conditions in the hig...

Re: Union at Sky

Please consider this,

Any union is a business that needs growth; as a business it responds to it's majority shareholders, will you be in the majority !!! Do you want to control your TOE or be a minority shareholder ??

With all due respect you should have stop with this observation,

"I think the limitations of the medium do disservice to the discussion"

It would have been a good "command" decision !!!

So to quote, "CRM might feel good and all touchy feely teamwork and stuff, but it doesn't change the fact of who the professionals are and where the buck stops with regards to responsibility and decisions for safety onboard" If I understand you correctly the Flight Attendents are NOT professionals !...

I'll try to clarify for you sir; while your position is for the most part correct it requires a little help, I'll start with YOUR quote..... "You got the cart before the horse here. The Pilots are responsible for the safety of the ship and passengers and the flight attendants are there to assist the...

Re: WestJet and Sunwing ground collision - YYZ

The FA's are responsible for the safety of the passengers, collaboration is of course preferred. With the advent of looked cockpit doors if the cabin crew feels it necessary to "elevate" the response I as the captain will both support and assist in any way possible. I would much rather be explaining...
