Re: New Phraseology for SIDs and STARs: Beginning April 27, 201

What happens when a point on the STAR states At or Below 4500' and you are cleared to 5000' descend via STAR. The altitude cleared was above the At or Below but it was Descend Via STAR so what trumps what, the clear Altitude or the STAR requirement?

Re: STOP THIS PILOT-IN-WAITING...

To me there is nothing wrong with someone entering this industry for a freshly minted CPL 200 hour guy(or gal) and working to prove themselves with a company. I started in an Office operations position and worked hard for 2 years making what I consider for that position a very fair salary and then I...

Re: New yyz slots..this is gonna hurt!

I heard from my Operations Department that they contacted the GTAA and was told that the Directive was not really clear on the actual intent (or so they say and the GTAA is back-peddling hard) and they will be reissuing it. Apparently it is supposed to be that slots are required but that are only av...

Re: N115WF Challenger 601 crash Aspen January 5 2014

You have to have been trained to go to Aspen, it's right on the plate as I recall. There is a special training required to use the LOC/DME 15 IFR approach. It actually requires the company, crew and aircraft to be authorized and approved by the FAA. The published approaches are all circling approac...

Re: Im so broke from being a pilot

Been fortunate... Started in aviation as a groomer for 3 years(making $60k a year by the year I left) Left to start coordinating for a charter management company at $30k... After about 6 months took on some additional duties and got $35k... Did that for about about 2.5 years and got my first flying ...

Re: Overshoots at Toronto Pearson

The controllers at Pearson are awesome and are extremely accommodating. The controllers in Toronto do an incredible job. I am aware that go-arounds are a normal occurrence... it can be for any number of reasons. There are so many things out of their control that cause the go-arounds... Be it an aircr...

Overshoots at Toronto Pearson

Hey there... Yesterday noticed it seemed like an oddly high number of go-arounds yesterday (September 1st, 2016) There were 2 on the south side while I was arriving yesterday and 2 on the north side after I landed. Was this in regards to the email that our operations received about issues with Nav C...

Did a flight into Edmunston just a week ago...
Got to see her before she is moved...
They had a pretty good history of the plane displayed in the "terminal".
Too bad I didn't get any pictures of it.

Re: Private Operator (604)?

Does the chief pilot of a 604 operation have to meet the same requirements criteria as say a 703 chief pilot?

If so how does a guy looking to fly around a C90 personally that doesn't meet those requirements?

Re: What was the first airplane you flew in?

Mine first flight was on Air Canada B747 from Toronto to Tampa, FL. Was supposed to have been an L1011 but it was swapped out. This was when I was 5 year old back in 1989. It was that return flight (also a B747) from Tampa to Toronto at night that really got me hooked. I still remember going to the ...

Re: Avantair flys w elevator installed upside down . . . oop

I just wanted to pass on clarification that I had given to me. A friend of mine that is an AME on an Avanti corrected me when I called it a canard. It is actually a forward wing not a canard. Because the Avanti has a traditional tail configuration it does not make it a canard. Even if you look up ca...

No it's just the dispatcher at the desk... it's hard to get the actual instructor.
Thanks for your help.

Much appreciated.

Expired IFR Question

Hi there, I am just wondering if someone can help me with my question. I went in 2007 and got my Group I IFR out at Perimeter. It has expired and I did not renew it. To get it back I know that I have to go write the INRAT again and that I will have to do the flight test. My question is do I have to ...

I had heard the same thing about it being beyond repair. It was in the FlightExec hanger for a while or on the ramp along with being outside Hanger 17 for a short time too. I was looking to find out if it was still hanging around YKZ or had it been parted out already. I haven't seen it for a while a...

Re: Aircraft at CYKZ with wing extensions?

Would hate to see what gravel would do to the lower surfaces after a day or two though... The leading edges of the wings were missing paint in a few places... The leading edges of the horizontal actually had acrylic attached to protect them. I'm not sure if this is a normal proceedure or just becau...

Re: Max Wind youve seen.... (crazy wind in central canada)

The worst I have ever experienced personally was at CYQY (Sydney, NS) when a friend and I were ferrying a Piper Archer and were getting fuel in 42kts G 49 in January. We were each on the end of a wing trying to hold it a little more still while they fueled it. Later on the trip had a 92kt headwind a...

Re: Aircraft at CYKZ with wing extensions?

Back this summer there was also Kiwi Air of New Zealand (Initially with UTS Geophysics decals and became Aeroquest while there) that had two of their planes there. The aircraft were Pacific Aerospace P-750 an aircraft manufactured in New Zealand. The registrations were ZK-SWA (the first one at YKZ) ...
