I notice you left out the crowd killer. Probably the only Cessna that doesn't feel like a Cessna
Cardinal?
Skymaster?
That makes way more sense

Re: Float pilot hiring scenario?

A Cessna is a Cessna, IMO. The numbers are different, and the engines as well, but they all FEEL the same. A 172 feels like a 182, 185, 206, 208; they just get bigger. I've heard even the straight wing Cessna jets pretty much feel like a rock solid 172. I notice you left out the crowd killer. Proba...

Re: Float pilot hiring scenario?

If I’m flying a Cessna seaplane, it’s gotta be a 185.

I don’t need to die in a 206 because I can’t open the door underwater lol.

Is there a point to the early connections program?

Should I apply at my current hours, or just wait until I have 1000 and apply directly as an FO? Is there an advantage to applying via the early connections program?

Re: Chartright MD87 FO job

Sadly, they'll find someone. It's the Canadian way. You want to fly an MD87/B717? Immigrate to Australia and work for Quantas Link. I seem to remember hearing that carriers down here were forecast to cancel up to 11,000 flights this year due to a lack of crew. It's airline work but at least the pay...

Is it me, or did the Sky Regional FO ads not used to have a 1500 hour minimum requirement for First Officers? Looks like it is not there anymore.
It is on the website, pretty sure.

What’s the old saying?

Apply for the job you want, not the one you’re necessarily qualified for.

Re: B777 Engine Start

In calmer days I can usually hear Q400s taxiing at YTZ from my house in the beaches. Just a low frequency thrumming noise. Down at the beach, you can distinctly hear them go into reverse when the wind is right. I’m probably 10 kms away, easily.

Re: Air Bravo minimum first officer times?

I’ve heard of a few that got hired under 500 hours with no IFR; gave them 30 days or whatever to get their IFR done.

Pretty sweet deal; they sound like a good company to work for from the people I’ve talked to

Also, the whole 20 years after you start as an FO on a Q400 for Jazz, you're not still flying a Q400 unless you really, really want to. You move up, get promoted, and make WAY more money than I imagine you do at Buffalo, and you get vacation, GDOs and all that stuff as well.

Re: Float pilot pay

I'm making a bit more than that in the same part of the country. I also have zero camp work to do; all I do is fly and help load the Otter when I'm around. I also get real days off, and they've been good about letting me go for vacation. If you guys know of any of these mythical $5000 a month, 500TT...
