Re: Swoop CYQR Smoke diversion

If they knew it was a cigarette, but no one owned up to it, a cigarette diversion isn't appropriate IMO. If they just suspected a cigarette, but weren't certain, so they diverted, okay... as you say unknown smoke source... absolutely diversion appropriate... but why then did they just blast off aga...

Crew wearing O2 masks? and a diversion?

This either isn't cigarettes smoke or the crew is making some strange decisions...

Re: Interim bid out

very junior ML WB FO is one of the worse jobs we have. Everybody's different. I get worn out just thinking about doing more than one sector a day. How many do you do in a typical NB pairing? Agreed everyone is different. So is junior ML WB CA just as bad? Same sort of sched, right? Fact is that it'...

Re: Interim bid out

Basically as I understand it, flat pay is much lower than any other WBFO. You can only get off flat pay early by bidding to captain ~2 years currently, and with course rights you can't get back to WBFO. Sure you can get back to WBFO depending on what Course Rights you spent. You are given 6 Course ...

Re: Interim bid out

Can someone please explain this for those of us not in the know? Is WB FO a lousy job? Or are you at the botl, and have a crappy schedule? Why would it be so bad on flat pay? Four years from now you and your peers will go to formula, and everyone's equal again, no? :? :?: WB FO, even junior isn't b...

Re: More grist for the F18 replacement mill..

What would happen - and I mean actually happen - if we bought nothing? And what could happen if we spent the money on something else? And what could that something else be? Wars are ultimately won by economies. The industrial might of the US in WWII is what won the war in both Europe and the Pacifi...

Re: Should it take 2 years to get a Private? Thank you Sault College. :(

I'd walk in to the office of whoever is responsible today with an ultimatum for the school to satisfy their responsibility to you, in an accelerated manner, immediately or I'd take legal action against the school. Bottom line, you are getting what you paid for if they are refusing you to go flying. ...

Re: OTS WesJet Mainline FO

Sure, AC is better for pay and upgrade time but there has been a mad rush for the two years NB upgrades and that is not going to last. They are supposed to hire several hundred pilots next year, I doubt there are several hundred captain positions opening up in two years for them as well. I wouldn't...

Re: ONEX deal foreign ownership problems

No sense making it easy on a competitor. Certainly tightens screws on ONEX's corporate structure and forces some transparency. Also if there is foreign capital over the limit at ONEX this forces some hard decisions about who gets booted from the deal. Maybe a forced share sell off and potential rest...

Re: ONEX deal foreign ownership problems

Air Canada has filed a challenge with federal regulators to Onex Corp.’s takeover of WestJet Airlines Ltd., arguing that the deal could give foreign investors majority ownership of the Calgary-based airline, in violation of Ottawa’s rules. Onex, a Toronto-based private-equity firm, announced a frie...

ONEX deal foreign ownership problems

AC is challenging the ONEX-Westjet deal at the CTA over the lack of transparency in ONEX's holding company ownership and Schwartz's own voting share succession. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-air-canada-files-challenge-with-canad...

Domestic early starts we always get a breakfast, and as I said, if I want one, I can always get a meal or snack... but I prefer getting paid vs. the old system of not being paid when flying through meal times.

Re: Direct Entry Captain Course

Captains at this company are egregiously underpaid. You’ll be working 19-20 days a month, doing three and four leg days, and flying into places like EWR/LGA/ORD for 80k/year. Meanwhile E190 skippers at AC are pulling in 150k-160k/year to fly virtually the same airplane with 21 more seats, and they’...

Re: Who will bid the A220?

No. I’m not advocating you take a reduction in pay. Not at all. And I didn’t say that either. I simply find it hard to believe nav pay would even be a reality in this day and age. Having re-read my remarks I appreciate how my written words have come across. To be honest I haven’t a clue what your C...

All the guys with substandard contracts who don't get any premiums think it's ridiculous...

Go tell the Delta and United guys their pay premiums are nonsense while you're at it. Or better yet, do something about your own crappy contract!

Re: Interim bid out

CRs are bullshit. Be sure to thank your Conservative MP candidate and Lisa Ratt in October. Tough to plan your career and budget your moves with an ever changing landscape. But if you want to make a move bad enough that's life - or at least the contract we live under - and that's what a UR CR is for...
