Re: Pilot shortage “slowing down “

When Big Red has more resumes than they can deal with at a whopping $50,000 a year, there is no pilot shortage. I learned through many sources that the 50K goes to 80K in four years, and then continues to climb well over the 100k and 200K mark, finishing off at 300K. Out of curiosity, since I am at...

.... If a corporation is willing to screw you over - long term or short term - screw it over first! If it goes under, it goes under - we all know it won't happen in WJ's case. Another one will replace it. Work there. Unionize. Negotiate decent WAWCON. Strike if necessary! Wow!! Brave words gambling...

Re: Gloom & Doom Q2 outlook...are you kidding?

There is nothing stopping a corporation to start or acquire another company to serve a different segment of the market, especially if it benefits consumers. All the corporation has to do is to show no material job loss results in other segments (within reason). This does not include opportunities f...

Re: Next move?

Encore is your best move. Hands down! You're set to [eventually] go to mainline WJ. It will be a relatively quick upgrade - for someone like you, you'll just have to wait for the minimum time requirements. While there, you can apply to Big Red and you'll have a pretty good chance at that as well. Ke...

It seems like the Lufty guys go on strike every other year.
Now who wouldn't want to see some WestJet executive get torn apart as they're climbing over a fence?

Evertz is making that much eh?

I feel like the ratio of company-profit / pilot-compensation is very telling of the work environment one can expect while being employed there... Anywhere really.

Re: Boeing studies pilotless airplane

Think about it this way, a 172 only requires one engine yet 2 engines is safer. Why? well at a point the risk reward doesn't add up, at the end of the day safety costs money and the line usually gets drawn around the 9 passengers in the back. Then it becomes more essential to have the added layer o...

Re: Boeing studies pilotless airplane

"Action Needed: Tell Congress No Single-Pilot Aircraft What allows some business jets flying at the same speeds and altitudes to fly single pilot but not a jet carrying cargo? If telling "Congress no single-pilot aircraft" does that mean all single pilot planes (including 172s) should require two c...

Re: Swoop offering yearly bonuses?

Whats likely to happen to those guys once this strike kicks in?

Are the WestJet guys essentially striking in order to increase WAWCON at Swoop? Or is the endgame dismantling Operation Pink? I'm guessing the latter.

I certainly can't picture ALPA taking in their freshly blacklisted pilots.

Re: Westjet's new Dreamliner livery & logo

It's pretty boring. And someone should have told them that airplanes have windows. The Westjet name is all messed up by them. Now the new AC livery, WOW. How a company could go from the worst toothpaste coloured airplanes to the most badass paint scheme out there is a mystery to me. Even a 737 look...

Yeah, things get more expensive if there's demand for them. Demand for oil will peak and it will decrease. Once this happens everyone who is sitting on any sort of deposit will be climb over each other to pump it out while its still worth something. Cue total shit-show in the Middle East. I'll check...

It is essentially the same thing, except that peak demand was made up after people realized peak oil wasn't materializing. Just some other made up event in the medium term future by alarmists to get the crowds going. Its the polar opposite actually, and it will happen. Its only a question of when.
