Re: Starting PPL - Night VFR + Multi IFR immediately after?

I think what photofly is trying to say is, there are lots of better things to concentrate on than. "Golly, I have 46 hours and they didn't recommend me for a flight test." I agree a bit of extra training seems good. If you are still learning and not stuck repeating things you are confident at, don't...

Microsoft flight sim 2020

Microsoft flies again. Sounds like scenery is improved, supplied by bing.

Looks fun.

Re: Clearing Engine During Practice Forced Approach

I'll fess up, never seen a single mag fail. I was thinking the plugs might have been fouled. I don't think that would harm the magnetos.

Re: Clearing Engine During Practice Forced Approach

The spark plugs and magnetos were replaced. Sounds like there might have been a problem that was beyond carb ice. Maybe it would not even re-start on the ground with the existing plugs. Were the plugs fouled from the poor thing never having had the mixture leaned other than during the run up check l...

Re: fifty reasons to find a new instructor

Meh. I suppose they might be kind of terrible if all you wanted is talking on the radio lessons.

It's a procedure they are told to follow.

I suspect that school is not the only one.

Re: fifty reasons to find a new instructor

Here's one. "Any conflicting traffic please advise." Is being taught as proper radio proceedure by real life instructors. I am not joking. Some of these instructors are excellent in my opinion. The phrase makes sense to them as a way to get other pilots to fess up that they were planning to sneak up...

They seem to have taken on this mystical Canadian thing like Tim Hortons.

Re: How are Medivac standby hours accounted for?

I hope this sounds more supportive than mean but I think ant is right here. EI seems like a trick. I stopped applying for it a long time ago. It felt like too much hassle. I consider it another layer of taxes. Since around 1996 it slowly became much easier to just get another job. Good thing too. I ...

Re: Airman vs. Airperson Discussion/Poll

I'm old fashioned so Postman sounds normal. Post person sounds like someone who lacks intellect trying to over compensate for gender bias. This silly stuff has gone on long enough to that letter carrier seems better. The best is those titles to make people feel better about their job that are also g...

That's why we're annoyed by your constant reminders of your sim experience. A complete and total lack of humility.
Do you have any idea of the cost of buying time in a level D sim?

Re: Recession incoming

An adult used to be someone over 18. Now I actually have met one of my daughter's 16 year old friends that seems ok. My wife has a friend and she has two more but... Have you spoken to many people from 20 to mid 30 years old? Hopefully I just kept meeting odd ones but they were like little kids. Any...

Re: Recession incoming

The Tim Hortons my wife and her work pals go to is extra busy this week because the coffee shop one floor down closed. It was called Starbucks or something. I guess they closed four YYC locations without any warning.

Phone them and ask directly, "These are my vision stats. Do you think I could get a Cat. 1 medical?"

Most of them are willing to answer a few questions over the phone. Every Transport Doctor I have ever seen was there to help and willing to answer my questions.

Drive around Calgary, things are somewhat ok but it's slowing down. I took little beef beef to a birthday party for his best bud. Re: Recession incoming

What I meant by the iceberg quip is we import too much. It is extremely difficult to find things made in Canada. Ok fine I don't need everything to be from here but it would be nice to be able to buy somethings. I used to buy blue denim trousers made in Montreal. Ok so bad example because some feel ...

I used to agree with Squaretail and wanted everyone to buy Canadian cheese, but I know too many cheap bastards want to save $2 buying imported crap from Walmart. I'll continue buying Canadian any time I can find and afford that sort of thing but I'm not as excited about it as I used to be. This coun...

I am a really bad example for this specific thing though. I flew from coast to coast one year but that year was almost thirty years ago so I would just go do a new one. Having said that, in my opinion, if a person flew 300 nautical miles within a year of applying it should just count, there should b...

Re: Diamond Vs Cessna Flight Training

Can you tell if you are flying a low wing versus a high wing by the way it reacts to control movements? Maybe if I flew them one right after another but I can't honestly say the Warrior II felt different to me. It definitely stalled faster and more abruptly. The 172 is more forgiving of being slopp...
