Re: Should I withdraw from Seneca's Aviation degree program?
I assume if he walked when applying for a pilot position, with a degree in Comp Sci, Econ, Accounting, Math, Engineering, Law, etc, would get the same if not higher level of respect, plus have the benefit of being more well rounded should they want/need to change career paths later on. As Gene ment...

Re: Should I withdraw from Seneca's Aviation degree program?
Flightsimmer, As you can tell from the above responses, every person is different and has a different opinion on whether the college route / aviation degree is a good way to go. The most important question is what are your career goals? Regardless of the opinions on whether AvCanadians think you'll ...

Re: Please do not park aircraft inside hanger!
Thanks for this, I must sheepishly admit that I was guilty of this a LONG time ago (in writing, not in trying to park an aircraft in a garment holder). My not completely rational aviation writing pet peeve is licence vs. license. Licence: Canadian (noun) License: Canadian (verb) License: Amer...

Re: FAA Provides Opinion on Airpooler
In the case of the lodge owners, the regulator obviously made a pretty good case that the passengers were not "incidental" to the flight in respect of CAR 401.28(2)(c). The lodge cases that I made passing reference to include R. v. Biller , 1999 CanLII 12356 (SK CA) and R. v. Race (1974) , 14 C.C.C...

FAA Provides Opinion on Airpooler
This is an interesting situation that has come up in the US. AirPooler a service that matches private pilots to 'share' flights had asked the FAA for an opinion as to whether such operation was legal and did not require an air operator certificate. This is interesting. I've definitely had the flying under wires dream and not able to get above them. What's also interesting is that both I and a lot of my friends that have attended grad or professional school all have the dream even years after finishing that we're back in school and there's an e...

SKL call letters were once Skyward Aviation call letters out of Thompson MB. They used to have Citations some of the owners were part of Skylink (I believe) and Skyward is now Skycare out of a place near Red Lake Ontario same owners. Wouldn't mind having a update on all of this, it has been a while...

50th Anniversary of first solo
I had the pleasure of flying over Langley today while a fellow taxied out for "one circuit" to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of doing his first circuit.
Well done, sir! And thanks for letting those on the frequency in on the event.

Re: " I've been Rouged " Brilliant marketing!
The Rouge 767 has more legroom. That metal rod digging into your knees is a direct result of seat-pitch....and your height. I'm 6ft3....I literally cannot fit into the Rouge 29 inch pitch economy seat. I'm only 5'9" and the rod was digging into my knees. I haven't had that problem with WestJet or E...

Re: " I've been Rouged " Brilliant marketing!
For me the seat pitch isn't so much of the issue - I've flown on easyJet in Europe a few times and while I wouldn't say it was spacious, it wasn't bad. It's just metal rod in the seat pocket of Rouge's 319 that was digging into my knees that was the problem. Perhaps it's different on the 767s, but u...

Re: " I've been Rouged " Brilliant marketing!
We took Rouge from YVR to LAX at the beginning of the month for a wedding. I want to be a big Rouge supporter. However, the seat back pocket has a metal wire/stick that runs along the top of the pocket. I'm not that tall and it still dug into my knees for most of the flight. Overall, the service was...

Ah the good ol' days: when instructors were more experienced, students not babied and aviation was great! There was less meddling by the government and less cookie cutter puppy mill schools. That's when a student really learned stick and rudder skills and not merely systems management. The U.S.'s ge...

When flying at night, he aims green lasers at teenagers in their parents' basement. When arriving at a new airport, he gives a water cannon salute to the firetrucks as he passes by. In the event of a cabin depressurization, he assists all passengers with their oxygen masks before securing his own. H...

We got switched to Rouge for our flight to LAX at the end of this month so we'll see how it goes. Curious to see the product. We booked on Aeroplan points, so we're not too fussed. Had we booked a regular mainline fare only to be switched, I'd be annoyed. I don't blame AC for switching many of their...

Re: Etihad unveils 9BR suite on board long haul flights
The top article is satire, which, like all good satire, is based on reality. There is a separate "residence" on the new A380s. The cost seems to be significantly less than $600,000. That being said, still have to agree with arctic_slim's theme of his comment. You'd think that the ultra-rich pax that...
