The story doesn't indicate that there is danger in recovering the body's. the story indicates that their is no one in charge of leading the expedition. New Zealand is SAR not recovery. Both she's not he's. Apparently the cockpit was unmanned. FO apparently called for a go around and the captain (known for taking control low level) stated "we don't do go arounds here". Allow pilots to file a "pop-up" instrument flight plan, in flight, absent an emergency, and spare them 5 minutes on the radio with FSS. Just like you can in the USA. I've filed a pop up.
