Re: First Day as a new First Officer

First day flying out of and into YYZ in the mighty Dash 8: Taxiing out, we were number 20 for departure, and ground said to us "Tower 118.35." I figured that meant contact the tower. When I did, and told them we were ready in sequence, the Tower controller said "You have 20 in front ...

Re: Jazz skid off runway in Bagotville, QC

CRJ in Bagtown? The YUL-YBG route is normally serviced by the Dash. Dash normally services that route but the CRJ has a few as well. 58 In my many travels to/from YBG and 21 years living there, never seen a CRJ. I just noticed the route in the CRJ bid package last month.... not sure how long they h...

Re: Jazz skid off taxiway in Bagotville, QC

Just by looking at the video, it looks like the aircraft wasn't able to make the left turn from RWY 36 onto TWY H leading to the apron.

Offering more than that would only be speculation.

Re: Regional airline loses 1.5-million passenger contract with Air Canada, but firms deny safety concerns a factor

An internal Georgian memo posted on the Avcanada.ca website indicates that flight attendants, mechanics and other employees will also be able to move to either Jazz, Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge. One poster on an Avcanada forum said Georgian employees, earning some of the lowest wages in the indu...

Re: Jazz Payscale Updated 2019

Sorry but you don't learn at a 705 operator. I hate it when fo's tell me, I am here to learn, but how will I learn etc... 705 is about operating safely and then yeah, the more time you spend doing something the more experience you get and won't repeat mistakes! Well speak for yourself, I’ve learned...

Re: TA Passed.

Unless you are hoping for returning expats though, you could double the pay across the board but the experience still won't be there. People won't stay at a 703 when they could go to jazz. Many won't stay at jazz when ac/Transat/ SW call. so you will still have an "experience shortage" wh...

Re: TA Passed.

There is no pilot shortage in Canada. Companies up north are still asking pilots to work the ramp before flying. Jazz and AC have no problems filling groundschools. The pilots don’t have the hours or experience as past hires did, however there IS NO shortage of low time pilots looking for jobs in C...

Re: Jazz Payscale Updated 2019

If anyone here thinks 38K is an OK wage for a starting position with any Airline, regardless of how much time you have, is an idiot. After spending the time and huge amount of money to get a pilots licence and start under 55k is bad enough but 38K these days?!! Have a little self worth... Pilots(id...

Re: A message to all GGN Pilots from a Jazz Pilot

One of the training pilots showed me the planned March schedule on the CRJ. Looks like they are planning at least 3 Ggn crews in March to train/transfer their PPCs over. The only way to know if a former GGN pilot can hold any YYZ/YUL/YYC/YVR CRJ vacancy is to have the results of Bid 2019-1 in hand....

Re: Upgrade timelines

If I were in that position, I wouldn’t be relying on PICUS at all the get the PIC time. They will have to go out and buy their hours on a local airport. Some have been granted LOAs so they can work elsewhere for a short time as well. If we are short staffed, that is less likely too. Seems like a fl...

That was a nice long post. Glad you got it off your chest. As I mentioned, I'm open to an education. Please feel free to educate us and the future pilots on how this has set new positive standards in place that will benefit the industry as a whole instead of just Jazz pilots. Re: TA Passed.

Easy to make comments like that from the outside. And if by eating young you mean taking on GGN pilots and giving every single one of them an immediate significant raise? Then ok. If you mean future pilots, well... Now they have a continuing revolving door at Jazz which will keep movement going for...

Re: Upgrade timelines

So with a 1000 hours the pilot will get to be a F/O on a Q400 or Rj then in 2 years has a 90% chance of a job with AC. I wish there was “shit” opportunities like that when I had a 1000 hours Actually, in some cases a pilot with 250 hours will get to be an F/O on a Q400 or Rj then in 2 years has a 9...

Re: Entire application process timeline?

Interesting... Do you know the numbers regarding pilot in the pool vs ggn pilot in one GS? Will ggn pilots have all the slots ? Or we could assume 50/50 in a GS? If the contract amendment is approved, the participating GGN pilots would get seniority spots on the Jazz Pilot Seniority List that equat...

Much speculation at this point.

Vote results on Thursday, equipment bid shortly after that, once those are settled, the picture will be much clearer. Hang tight until mid feb.
