Re: Malaysia’s First ‘Islam Compliant’ Airline, Rayani Air.

It's an interesting thing how different people have such differing reactions to the combination of faith and being in a life and death tight spot. Sully sullenberger (of Hudson River landing fame) is aperently a believer, but also it would seem a pretty smart thinking pilot. His actions contrast dra...

Deep snow at a crash site like this can be a bit deceptive. There are probably more parts scattered around than you can see.

Re: Leasing private C150

Pilot dar is right. Good thing too-it would have taken me half an hour to type that! Once you own your own plane you will suddenly feel differently about having anyone else fly it. You won't want to do it, and it won't make sense financially. Getting other pilots on your insurance is pretty easy. If...

Re: Malaysia’s First ‘Islam Compliant’ Airline, Rayani Air.

I would rather fly in an Airbus that has reverted to alternate law behind a couple 250h 2nd officers than ride in an aircraft who s pilots believe they have god on their side. Not to say that that is never the case on any airline but if there is any truth in advertising there s a better chance of it...

Re: How do I stop myself from beating on a 152?

Ever try driving on ice? If you are rough or aggressive doing that you will be way slower and more out of control than someone who drives slowly and smoothly, never breaking traction. Same thing in a plane. I wouldn't worry too much. It's early. Easier to learn to be smooth later than to learn not t...

Re: Use of ballast - MEL

Not sure if you re talking about ballast that might get hauled in and out of the aircraft regularly. That sounds like a pain. But if it's staying in there, lead shot or bullets work well. Compact, heavy, fairly cheep and easy to fit into of shaped spaces.

I think they had already aborted when the wheels touched. At least I imagine that was the reason he had completely quit using the rudders by then.

Re: 'TIs the season for carb ice".........

Strange things happen in carbs. All that math makes sense I'm sure, but unless you have a carb temp gauge, it's pretty simple. Don't pull it on and leave it on indefinitely unless that seems to be the only way you ll make it home. It's perfectly normal in some planes in the right conditions to pull ...

How depressing.

Why don't you find some little bags of marshmallows and maybe some of those minni donuts? Hard to imagine those being too dangerous.

Better stay away from the tennis ball sized gobstoppers. :)

I was exaggerating for clarity.

The beacon and other stuff you might need attached to your body is a really good takeaway for anyone who flies over anything but civilized country on one engine.

Bottom line is if your company doesn't treat you well now, they probably won't because of a new rule.
