Re: I'm thinking of getting my Flight Instructor Rating Ultralights

I'm thinking of getting my Flight Instructor Rating Ultralights. The Ikarus C - 42 is an advacned ultralight that I have been flying for 50 hours now and in Canada that is enough to obtain your Instructor rating after another 10 hrs grounds school and another test in Ottawa and another check ride w...

Re: Near North Aviation in Hamilton, ON?

Hey Marakii, Near North Aviation has just opened up an FTU at the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport in the JetPort building. You can give us a call at 905-679-5577. Our parent school has been in Parry Sound for years, but our operation is new in Hamilton: http://www.nearnorthaviation.com...

Re: Ultralight Seaplane Rating

Is building float time same on a Cessna floatplane and a light sport plane like the CTLS (ultralight) or are they treated different? I might have access to an amphibian CTLS light sport and build float time hence my question . Will float operators throw me out of the office if I tell them I have tim...

No more class 4s?

I hold a class 4 flight instructor rating and want to get back into instructing because I enjoy it. I've only being seeing lately ads for class 3 or higher for the most part. How do we class 4s explain to the CFI to give us a Crack at it. I get it we need the supervision and now we are dealing with ...

Re: Retention Bonus

3$ per hour of on duty... my last month was blocked at 75hrs... 180hr time away from base. Currently 3.00$/hour Time Away From Base (TAFB). (It was 2.50$ when it started, changed to 2.75$ in Sep 2017; and 3.00$ in Jan 2018) If you do single days or are on reserve, it'll be much less than those who ...

Re: Retention Bonus

The retention bonus (one time deal, at this point) was for anyone who was on the property as of Dec 31, 2017. I believe they may have extended the offer to the first 2 FO classes in Jan and Mar, although I'm not certain. There hasn't been any other developments with regards to "retention". Question...

Our company told us the same- working more days to make up the difference, you know, since it's somehow our problem.
So basically, they won't hire more just make the present pilots fly more days per month.

Well that doesn't sound good, so what are we saying 20 to 25 days a month on the job?

Re: PC-12 F/O TRAINING..?

There are two decent options: 1. Get your M-IFR now and the hours count towards the 200 needed for the CPL 2. The ATPL requires a recent M-IFR ride to be signed off. So could wait until it's time to apply before doing your M-IFR rating and ride. I did option 1, and was flying small twins (no ATPL r...

So is studying the ATPL exam preparation exam guide and questions (sharper edge solutions) too much for the IATRA or would it benefit me to pass it better?

SARON -SAMRA exam book (Iatra )

A fellow pilot friend gave me his 2018 Airline Transport pilot study book that deals with the Samra and saron exams. I'm studying for the IATRA, is This a good book to study from for the IATRA?

I can see it has all the info that
The IATRA book has and more.

Your thoughts?
Thanks

Chief pilot question 703 ops

Hello aviators, Curious about the chief pilot qualifications at a 703 -702 sightseeing operation. If the straight land airplane company decided to add another same plane but it's an amphibian aircraft does the current chief pilot has to have the 250 hours PIC on floats as well or do they have to hir...

Upgrades are happening within the one year mark (as stated above, if you have the required experience.) Interviews are ongoing for both FOs and DECs. Pilots may operate as Captain until their 65th birthday, at which point they may retire or continue working as an FO. Just curious regarding the lowe...

Things may have changed, but the holder of the AOC is completely responsable for aircraft, pilots, maintenance under their OC. They can take on an aircraft, pilots etc., but, unless things have changed drastically, they would require to be put on the AOC's maintenance schedule. Pilots would have to...
