Not everyone wants to work at Air Canada. I don't. I never wanted to.

Re: Jazz - Dash 8 bond
Our union would not allow a bond. The working conditions are far better than most operations here, which tends to keep people. Not to mention the benefit package, pension, ESOP, schedule, vacation, mx, training etc. Some people do indeed leave after a year or two for overseas gigs. Or after the agr...

Re: Dash8 yaw damper engagement.
Depends on the model and weight. For example, on the -100 you have to have YD off if your weight is light and V1 is below 92 KIAS. (If I remember correctly. It has been a while since I flew the Dash)

Re: Moving to the states but still working in Canada
But why? A big group of pilots would kill for the right to work in the states at the moment. Which Canadian operator is so great you want to avoid being paid in USD and getting sign-up bonuses?? True, but this may be temporary, after which they come back to Canada. If I was flying for a good compan...

I heard a rumor that, in the future, Jazz pilots will be able to afford both shelter and food.

Re: Which Canadian Airlines expect their Flight Deck Crew to also be Cabin Groomers?
If you think that a 737 Captain or First Officer should clean planes, you need to travel a bit more and see the world. Get that 703 mentality or whatever PTSD you may be experiencing due to your previous abuse as a small time pilot and get in line with the rest of the world. Spare me the "What about...

I'll clean the plane in the back when the Groomers / FAs come in the flight deck and take care of that MEL for me.

Yet the military sees fit that a 28 day abstinence is perfectly fine. Double standard much government? Eating shitty food is an impairment. Not exercising is an impairment, booze, FATIGUE, I could go on, yet everyone seems to be hung up on cannabis. I don't understand how some of you think it is OK...

KenoraPilot :) You're so kind toward the Dash Trash. Good on you for having a positive outlook on it. ;) I did not like Dash 8 and I'm glad I'm not on it anymore. It may have been a technological "marvel" at one point in the 1600s, sorry I mean the 80s, but it has long outlived its welcome (in my op...

Re: SAMRA/SARON - my guide to studying
Nice post. I used Aerocourse when I wrote my AAs. I will disagree with you on one thing. Writing your SARON / SAMRA is not about how much you know (per say) but rather writing their type of exam. Since English is my 2nd language, it was very challenging for me to understand WTF they were trying to a...

Re: Logging Instrument time
I called TC and asked this exact question and this is what I got for the answer "You can only log instrument time when you are in actual IMC or under the hood and in the SIM during training, so for example, you did an hour flight from CYSB to CYTZ only during departure and landing you were in cloud...

I'm too busy to read your post. I saw "27 years old". You're not too old. Make sure you know what you're getting into though. If you want it, go for it, if not don't. It makes no difference to most people.

Re: Cannabis Policy ???
Interesting points on all sides. So Marijuana is illegal in Australia, Germany, Hungary, Morocco (Places where AC / Rouge fly to). Under what reasoning will these flight crews get screened? More importantly, HOW DO YOU PROVE IMPAIRMENT? Alcohol is illegal in Saudi Arabia. Does that mean KLM, Lufthan...

Re: TSB finds fatigue an issue in SFO lineup
I'm shocked that our Transportation Minister, an ex astronaut, would not act on something so critical (addressing pilot fatigue and changing legislation). They will have a hearing, and Justin will dress up as an Air Canada Captain, just to get in the mood of things... probably a lady captain to be i...

Re: GGN YYZ 1900 to Cease Operation
From a sentimental point of view, the B1900 is an amazing aircraft. It has been part of YYZ for many years. I've flown one before and I loved it. It's not however an airplane that needs to be tied to Air Canada's network. It's more suited with 704 operators. That itself is a cool thing to reflect on.

So you want to spend $50,000 in legal fees just to enter the worst country on earth? Obviously you have not travelled much if you think the USA is the worst country on earth. Or you are just saying that for effect. I am amazed at the amount of dislike for America there is in the pilot group, howeve...

Re: US turning people away at the boarder for investments in pot.
So owning stocks in Pot companies, in a country (Canada) where it is (will be) legal, makes you a criminal, but owning stocks in General Dynamics, Ratheon, etc that make weapons that kill millions of people a year is NOT ILLEGAL! Got it. With each passing day I have less and less desire to travel to...

It's not a federal holiday - remember we work under federal employment rules in this business. Besides, life goes on in most of the country... kids go to school, banks are open, airlines fly. Do you want to survive BC air taxi or not? Get out of that clapped out Navajo or Metro, pin on a poppy, and...
