Re: 2 Air Transat pilots charged with being impaired

You're going to tell me that somebody was born with a predisposition to consume a man made product. Good one. Just an addictive personality, or a lack of willpower to say no.

Alcoholism is not a disease. It's an addiction. If you take an alcoholic and lock them in a room and provide them food and water, they will live, I don't think you can say the same about Ebola. Good on you . for finding a way to quit, but it's not a disease. People who claim that it's a disease are ...

Re: Seaplane down in China

I never found the EX to require full rudder for take off. Also, there were two pilots on board... the fact that one didn't punch the other, take control, reject with full reverse and digging the floats is shocking.

Re: Ride needed YWG to YYZ

A couple of things. Firstly: If you are in fact an experienced IFR pilot, then simply tell the company as much as you'd love to go to Toronto for an interview, you can't for financial reasons. If they can't fly you there or are unwilling to use skype for an interview then politely decline and keep l...

There's a lot of conflicting information between those two posts... Different departure aerodromes, different aircraft types. Although there is one constant... a very shitty operator.

Have you considered, oh I don't know... enlisting?

Failing that, how about going to the National Test Pilot School?

The thing about the "anonymous" internet forums in tiny industries, is that they are not anonymous at all. For all you know I could be the CP of Wasaya, who read your resume three times and decided that you just weren't right for the position. I'm fortunately not in Ontario, so that's probably not t...

Re: Sharing is caring - How did you %$# up?

Let's see, the first time I almost killed myself: I was flying 206's in the middle of nowhere of onterrible. I was brining the aircraft to Winnipeg (Selkirk) for maintenance. At the time I probably had about a thousand hours, and naturally felt invincible. The weather enroute was forecast to be medi...

Yup that's exactly what flight schools teach for those 5 hours.... Let go, and let Jesus/Allah take the wheel.

Re: Inadvertent VFR into IMC

With all the technology out there for training, I'd expect the proper thing to do would be look at your attitude indicator and bank around with reference to your heading and altitude. Flying into cloud isn't rocket science, and if you're so poorly trained that you can't handle that and instead opt f...

Vietnam for one.

Edited to add:

1) Does the airplane fly any differently with a different registry?

2) I have seen some of the talent in foreign countries that lead to very high wages for expats, I've also seen countless incompetent fuckwits with Canadian licenses.

I'm a Canadian and I've been at the controls of aircraft in many countries, that were registered to those countries. I don't see why the other way around should be banned.
