Re: Morningstar

I have a few questions for current employees. When did Morningstar move their ATR to YYC? Is this new? Are they moving Boeing flying to the ATR or picked up new routes for it? Also, are they moving the YMX airplane out west, or picked up another one? Lastly, what is the current pay scale on the ATR...

Re: Will Westjet survive?

Management didn't try to paint pilots as the devil, ya'll did that when you lined the road on investors day. All that press scared off would be WJ flyers to our competition. Cost the organization millions. All for what? Seriously, what did the bottom 80% get out of this? Calling me a bunch of names...

Re: Will Westjet survive?

If/when WJ comes out the other side of this, it will be a sad shell of it’s former self :( The same can be said for any airline in the world at the moment. WestJet is actually above the average airline in it's cash reserves as a portion of it's operating costs (as is Air Canada), based on it's last...

Re: Corporate Layoffs?

It looks like corporate will recover long before the airlines. https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2020-06-02/flexjet-chief-sees-upside-bizav-post-covid Airline guys have been accepting lower and lower pay through the decades. Hopefully when corporate opens back up they don’t ...

Re: Will Flair/Sunwing survive

Sunwing is going nowhere - the Sunwing group is very large and the airline is only a small part of it. Yes it’s true the airline is only a fraction of Sunwing’s business, however every other “business” they have has likely been severely affected. Their size could be a negative in this situation not...

Well wasted? Did the college accomplish anything before it’s members clearly got bored and tired of wasting their time?

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement

Genuine question, and I mean no harm... Did the stock options thing you used to get, on top of the regular salary, not put you in a competitive pay situation with other pilots of other similar sized aircraft in Canada? It equates to approximately 4000$/year after tax. This year however it was used ...

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement

WestJet pilots are nothing but a bunch of whining babies nowadays. Nothing is good enough, everything is always bad. You guys are lucky to have jobs right now - every other group has taken massive hits and you're still left relatively standing. How dare we complain about the WAWCON eh? How dare we ...

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement

This statement isn’t something to be proud of. The fact Westjet is the only “international” airline to “allow” pilots to fly past 65 says something about the WAWCON. Who needs to worry about a comfortable retirement, just flying till you die.... It’s all part of the ESPP scheme. It’s actually quite...

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement

The senior guys will be fine. We are the only “international” airline that lets you keep flying (in your left seat) past 65. Their lost wages over the period of the moa can be recouped in a few months. I’ll support last pay to the last day in exchange for 65 retirement age. Deal? This statement isn...

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement

Not a pilot, but part of an employee group that is extremely busy taking care of the Jets while they are not flying. Here's to hoping other departments do not have to lose more people now that 1000 of you are saved! No need to be concerned about that, the company comes out ahead in this deal.... as...

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement

Hopefully the government will claw back money from WestJet then because that is not really the intent of CEWS. It actually is the intent, the employees stay on payroll, the company can top up but most have not. The inactive status of the employee keeps them ready for a quick spool up, looking like ...

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement

Still on Twitter and still on ALPA Facebook page! ZERO communication to the pilot group, what a joke! What’s the joke! You have the information, does it fucken matter how you got it, ffs, it’s a dynamic situation clearly. Last communication was 1700 layoffs and obviously since then some further dis...

Thats pretty sad... 2 official languages in Canada you should at least be able to get by in your second one. Re: MOA2

Frankly I don’t believe the Encore MEC should have had the right to negotiate the terms of employment for those positions. I’m assuming most, if not all of those who negotiated those terms had their layoff notices already or would soon to be receiving them. This was a greasy play by the company to ...

Look what is happening around you?? Are you blind. Airlines are crumbling around the world. What kind of deal did you expect? You think you can get water from a stone? The idea that these 150 extra jobs at Encore is a ploy or a tactic by the company to undermine the pilot group is just ridiculous. ...

Re: MOA2

If mainline pilots do not like the WAWCON at Encore and the MOA2, they are not forced into a position at Encore. So take the layoff and go on EI. Simple as that. The Encore MEC fought and kept 150 more Encore positions available which are all going to Mainline pilots IF they want them. Nobody is fo...
