Re: The story of Buffalo Joe

"Wings above the Arctic" is another great book about bush flying in the Canadian North. There is a small piece about Buffalo in the book as well as stories about other great Arctic aviators. It's mostly a photobook but has some interesting stories and is an easy read for someone learning English.

Re: 2018 General Hiring Outlook

If nukes start flying you have bigger problems than where you currently work. Just surviving would be near the top of the list....just saying.

Re: 2018 General Hiring Outlook

I think you mean 704/705 operators. Regardless I have first hand knowledge of at least 2 operations that have turned down buisness because they are short pilots. Aircraft involved were 1900's, DHC-6, and Cessna 206's. There's talk that there are many operators in this position. It appears that there...

AVCANADA Hire Me! Page

I was bored, so I was cruising the hire me page to see what the current talent pool is like out there. Plan old curiosity. Then I wondered. In all honesty, has anyone ever gotten a cold call from an aviation company based on posting their information here? It seems to me like its a long shot. Most p...

PAL AMSD King Air Positions

Hello,

Anyone out there know the compensation for the FO and Captain positions with PAL ASMD in the King Air?

I assume the high requirements are the result of a government contract. I would also like to assume the pay is commensurate.

PM if necessary.

Thanks

It would be cool to see the marks that prop left in the pavement. You can see the prop and pavement turn to dust in the video.

Re: Another BC ultralight down -

This time it is a Vagabond... "C-FVMV, a privately operated Piper PA-15X Vagabond aircraft, departed from Surrey/King George Airpark, BC (CSK8) on a pleasure flight with only the pilot on board. Shortly after departure, the engine (Lycoming O-200-A X) lost power and the pilot made a forced landing ...

Re: Amazing But True Accident Report

That is a comedy of errors. That accident, if you can even call it that, is almost Darwin Award worthy. I can't believe two passengers actually felt comfortable enough with this guy that they actually got back into the plane at Flagstaff! There had to be alarm bells going off.

I don't think anyone who's ever flown around them during a busy day can honestly say they are really surprised... There's threads about this dating back 9 years. http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?t=41165 http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?t=45712 Last one details 10 cadors in 1...

Re: 2 planes collide in midair on Montreal's South Shore

This is the airplane that landed on the roof being craned off. https://www.ctvnews.ca/polopoly_fs/1.3330429.1489802169!/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/landscape_620/image.jpg Does that look like a prop that was turning when the airplane hit the ground? If not, when did the engine stop turning ...

Re: Government to Consider Random Alcohol testing for pilots

This thread is a couple weeks old. But with the Liberals new Marihuana (spelled correctly I might add) policy they have paved the road to random and arbitrary alcohol (not drug) testing at the roadside. Now, the Criminal Code does not differentiate between aircraft, motor vehicles, and vessels for t...

At least he pulled it together for the pre-flight passenger address.. (link is audio recording only) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9Hqf1K9uWc I read somewhere that a couple upper level executives resigned over the incident. Seems odd to me. Taking responsibility for company culture that allowed ...

Re: 300 pounds of cocaine found in Canadian Navajo

Don't kid yourself about how most of the guns and drugs enter this country. Of all the times I've flown my personal aircraft back into Canada I have never once been met by CBSA. It's always a phone call, the same old "has your declaration changed?" followed by a confirmation number. The bad guys kno...
