Re: Hiring outlook

Anybody have insight as to when WJE will turn the training taps back on? No ground schools for Feb/Mar. Hiring likely to get going again in April. Last year was 10 pilots every 2 weeks or so. Not sure if that is going to stay the new standard. You can pretty much bank on at least 10 people a month.

Re: 10 years ago today Colgan Air 3407

Already 10 years passed... Are we any closer to a 1500 hr rule here? This always confused me. I realize that this rule was devised as a result of this crash. However neither of the pilots involved in this crash had less than 1500 hours. Captain had an ATPL with 3379 hours F/O had a CPL with 2244 ho...

Re: Any past or current law enforcement/RCMP/Police turned CPL's?

Why not flying for the RCMP ? That job is the dream job, flying the PC12 all over canada while still being a police officer. RCMP does have current openings. Requirements are much higher than industry standard requiring 3000 PIC to fly a PC-12 for $80K a year. Mind you the federal benefits are very...

Re: Any past or current law enforcement/RCMP/Police turned CPL's?

Hello, Just wondering if there are any past or current law enforcement guys and gals in here flying commercially or vise versa? I keep flip flopping back and forth between to the two (flying and policing) as a viable career career choice. Both have their pro's and con's obviously but would love to ...

Re: Iatra or Atpl

If one uses the Encore PICUS option to top up the PIC for the ATPL, is it possible to progress to the left seat on the Q? Or do they have greater experience requirements in their promotional standards...? Moving to the left seat follows a matrix for experience. The two factors are Total Time and Ti...

Porter Engine Failure - Scranton, PA

There are a couple of small news articles out about Porter 122 making an emergency landing in Scranton, PA due to and engine failure. One article at the AvHerald suggests it was a precautionary shutdown. Anyone have any details?

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future

Ok so here's a question. Bill C-86's equal pay for equal work clause was brought up in a thread about jazz and ggn. Would swoop employees be able to use that to force mainline rates on swoop aircraft given that it's the exact same job through the same employer? This seems to be the exact thing that...

Re: TA Passed.

How does the contract at Jazz compare to Encore? There is a graphic out there of Jazz (old rates and new rates), GGN, Skyregional and Encore. It is not pretty. Jazz looks a little bad FO 1-4 but after that Jazz is light years above the others. Here we go again. Look past the starting pay. Encore ha...

Re: Kingston terrorist arrest

Yes it was the FBI who picked up on the whole thing. Our government is more concerned with letting terrorists in than stopping them. I still find it interesting why they had to use the plane as opposed to ground based surveillance. Often a plane is used when the target is known to be mobile over la...

Looked pretty much removed 3 days ago. I'm sure they are digging through the paint shed looking for touch up paint for the ILS system and approach lights now.

Re: Iatra or Atpl

Hello all, Just wonder if Encore hires someone who hasn't written ATPL yet. I plan to apply soon and want to make sure if I should write A's before applying or IATRA is sufficient. And does Encore offers PICUS? If not, should I have all the pic hours that require for ATPL prior to getting a job? Th...

Re: Skylease Cargo 747 Runway Overrun YHZ Nov 7, 2018

Here's a video I came across on facebook of the demolition. It was hard to watch the fate of such a marvelous piece of engineering and design. https://www.facebook.com/chris.freeman.52493/videos/10156492046365831/ I'm surprised they didn't salvage the "good" parts, eg, windshields. Does the insuran...

Uhhh, best working conditions in Canada for a regional (even mainline is debatable), a career, two year upgrades? Shall I go on? I'd say all three are pretty comparable. Picking one category like pay might put one above another, however each have different benefits and disadvantages. Jazz pays well...

Re: Quebec ready to support Bombardier

Their Aerospace Division is sinking fast. Quebec will attempt to pump more money, like a trauma surgeon pumps blood. But no amount of blood can stop this amount of bleeding. They make money on Trains and Powersports, I predict they will eventually liquidate their aerospace division to save the rest ...

The inventive is working at a place that treats you well. Places that don't have bonds usually don't need a bonds, because their employees are happy enough.

What year did that happen at your old company? When I read your post it reminded me of the Check Ride crash of the A320 in France that was featured on Mayday a few years back.
