Re: okotoks flight school

Beef wrote Maybe because people start flying before they have a radio license, then they build hours being number 6 for take off, getting used to controllers, flying in traffic etc. Or....maybe it has something to do with the FTUs convincing TC to redine flight time from engine on to engine off. Re: Encore wrinkles a Dash-8

Zaibatsu wrote Not surprising with the experience levels out there and the nasty landing habits of the Q. Not surprising? Do you have the experience level for those crew members? Do you know the circumstances of the accident? The kind of comment is more than a bit unfair if it is just outright specu...

This thread is very valuable. I used to think I worried a lot about insignificant details.
Me too, but not anymore.
Now let's discuss whether it should be Cxxxx or C-xxxx.

The simple solution to this situation is a belton tax. Getting hurt should not be free.

maybe i'm just old fashioned and believe in a solid reference. The majors dont give a rat’s patutti about bond jumping, or screwing your previous employer. They need a pilot. You fit the profile. You’re hired. Priority one is a family member working for the company already. Hours in the log book pl...

Re: Damaging an engine by turning the prop backwards

Gosh...seems to me , if wind is an issue, you could take them off right after the pax are on board while they are getting seated . It is not a common problem.
I even seem to recall some crews doing this.

Re: Damaging an engine by turning the prop backwards

Free turbines spin the prop the wrong way all the time on windy day..... There is no lubrication going on at that point. As someone else mentioned it is not a good thing. When you typically start a free turbine, you will almost immediately get oil pressure...before introducing fuel and starting...i...

Re: How to improve flight training.

Thank you for making that your last post on the subject. It isnt going to happen. The musings of old guys because they stated, without basis, that the pilots of old were better. The accident stats do not back them up at all, despite their cherry picking this or that accident to confirm their bias. B...

Re: Jump Pilot or Aerial Photo Pilot?

Ask the photo ops folks to give you a guarantee in writing of 400 hrs for the season. Or pay you the difference if you do not fly 400. If they won’t do that it tells you a lot about their confidence. And I am pretty certain they wont. You took a job. Keep your word . This is why companies have bonds...

Re: Retirement age.

As I understand your argument laser, you feel that the over 60s should give up their jobs....so you and those like you can get to bigger checks faster. Is that about right? What entitles you more to the higher wage than the pilot you want to put out to pasture? Other than you want their job. That se...

Re: Retirement age.

Oh right, it's greed. I dont know how many I speak for, but that comment is offensive to me. I love flying, it is not what I do but who I am. At 65 they put me out to pasture. I found in the pasture whole new areas of flight. It gets me up in the morning. I look forward to “work”. You kids that got...

Re: Flight Training in Saskatoon through Mitchinson or Millennium?

50,000 flight hrs Do the math! The “revolving” enter when you want ground schools, are, in my opinion a waste. They are not optimized for learning.. Another “on demand” accommodation, Ground school is often overlooked as unimportant, but in the greater scheme of your flying career it is ver very im...

Well, rich and stupid is actually a pretty good marketing demographic if you can penetrate the market and it is large enough. No one know exactly what you get for the $700 admin fee? I love that. Unless someone can explain different, it is just a made up $700 fee. Someone had to ask, didn’t they? Se...

To recap....Did you really need this accident to learn to take sufficient fuel? Or to remind you of the importanc...

Re: King Air at Gillam, MB

So, to treat this as the learning experience so many say come as a result of speculation. I could be wrong about this, but I do not think this is the first time a pilot or crew has departed with insufficient fuel and it has ended badly. I have to ask. How many posters here had to read about this to ...

Re: Bonds vs Wages

I have stated this so many times. If your employer asks you to do anything illegal....refuse and document it. Facts, not emotions. To many pilots try to jump bonds and then pull out the”I was pressured card”. But not a word of it mentioned every before they got their requirements and a call from the...

Re: Bonds vs Wages

Guys, guys, what pressure do you speak of? There are none. No more overweight. No more busting minimums, paper whipping, or duty day issues. All those issues were resolved when TC brought in SMS for small operators. Absolutely no need tohave any company investigated beyond a review of the paperwork....
