Re: Class 4 instructor hourly rate

There is a need for instructors in the industry now, if your present employer will or can not give you more flying find another employer. The problem is you need to get to a class three and then you can free lance. I made myself available as much as I can but it's not seven days a week as I have a ...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?

We really don't know if it was the controller or if they had already started the go around actually we don't really know how they got in that position to start with. End of thread. PROC_HDG Let's hear the CVR, then. It's in the public interest to release it. I'm a funny guy. Don't like my informati...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?

Rockie, I can't speak for anyone else, but I am more than happy to pay whatever the market price is for an airline fare, including all safety retrofits. As a pax I am suspicious how far the overall cost cutting trend has gone and potential effects on safety, in a variety of ways. I'm sure I do not n...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?

Yes. You make the operator retrofit, for a 24 hr CVR duration, just as operators retrofit important safety advancements all the time. Privacy concerns are a red herring. You are in a position of substantial public trust and responsibility, Rockie, with thousands of lives under your care. That certa...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?

Why in this day and age are there not CVR'S capable of saving the last 24 hours, or even 24 years, of cockpit communications, and/ or have those conversations continuously streamed to the cloud? Good question, even for someone that is not an airline pilot. That is a great idea provided privac...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?

Because the pilots are still alive and healthy and I'm sure happy to give an accurate account of what happened, since they are protected by the company's SMS system, non-punitive reporting policy and ACPA. PROC_HDG Please explain the non punitive reporting policy. Specifically, can a pilot be fired...

....now I know I'm not a commercial pilot at an airline, --but I'll still attempt to ask a relevant question. Please all forgive the ignorance. My application to comment is still pending, LOL. Cockpit voice recording. We obviously don't know what it says, if it was allowed to keep running ...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?

I bet there is going to be multiple factors reported, and just blaming the crew before this report is released is the last thing anyone should be doing. We can all learn from this. And RookiePilot, I still want to know where you work. Right. Just don't ask hard questions? BTW, What does where I, or...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?

Sorry for my "double negative", English not being my first language. No problem, sorry for the misunderstanding. But I must ask why you would "judge" this crew for making a mistake? We all make mistakes and herculean effort is devoted to minimizing those mistakes recognizing tha...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?

Rookiepilot, you sure get bent out of shape over Air Canada, what do you think a PR department is for? It's about damage control and deflecting to reduce the impact on The bottom line, hypothetically if your business had some bad press due to something your employees did, would you publicly accept ...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?

AC or any other airline does not determine, on their own, safe operating procedures. Those agencies do. Agencies set the minimum requirements. Many airlines go above and beyond what is required. You have a lot to learn Rookiepilot. You are quoting me out of context. Quote me, please quote all of wh...

Re: Two fatal near Parry Sound

the TSB report is out on this one, it appears they took off on rwy 17, and started and never stopped a right turn, according to the gps data. I remember the night well and there was a for lack of a better word, spooky layer around 3000 feet on a very dark night That layer would not have had impact ...

?.....this incident is currently being investigated/ addressed internally and corrective action plans implemented/adopted. Again, isn’t this how the system is supposed to work. Just asking. Isn't it the FAA/ NTSB/TC/TSB's job, after an incident, to do the investigating, determine cause, and then th...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?

I would like to invite speculation about what would have happened if no aircraft had been lined up on the taxiway. Would we be looking at an embarrassing "Air Canada lands on taxiway" report? I'm curious if everyone would be defending the Crew the same, if they were a foreign carrier from...

YYZ, Me either, on flying on major carriers, and in the scheme, AC is a very safe and reliable carrier.

Suppose correcting procedures is what matters most.
