Re: No Bailout for Bombardier
Not a fan of bail outs. But the cost to the taxpayers if bombardier goes down the drain won’t be cheap. Let’s say you give a billion dollars to a company with 40k employees, that’s 25k per employee. Now if these are good paying jobs, you will basically get all your money back in a year of income tax...

Re: Prostate Cancer Warning
I find doctors in Canada can be terrible at times. I took my daughter in once for a foot injury and literally the doctor says “I see this all the time, it’s a sprain” And I’m thinking to myself no shit. A sprain is a blanket term that applies to many injuries. And you see this all the time eh? I’m a...

Re: Instructor recommendations in Brampton
You know if you are trying to make a career of this you don't get to choose your captain on a pairing. It not like you post on the company message board and say who's the best captain so I can bid with them. It’s also not like you’re paying the airline you work for either. I have no idea why this s...

Re: Instructor recommendations in Brampton
What primed you to look for an instructor this way? Through my entire training I never had a bad instructor. I put most of the onus on my self to show up on time and prepared. I explained my schedule and circumstances and expectations on day one, and understood my instructor will always have a sched...

Air Canada rebranding MAX as the 220-800 *Satire*
Air Canada has announced plans for the roll out of its new A220 this coming year, and has found its opportunity to disguise its inferior 737 MAX through a rebranding. The 737 MAX will be rebranded as the Airbus 220-800, or the A228 for short. The executive team describes the rebrand as "the big...

I’m not saying it’s safe but Tc has approved these operators for Vfr at 300 feet and 1 mile. You could get down to minimums get ground contact but not the runway and continue vfr. Are you sure the 705 side of the operations has this special authorization? Or is the basler run as 703. Last I checked...

Westjet is in the top 10 shorted stocks on the tsx right now. Hope some of you had the chance to cash out some gains. I think airlines in general could take a hit the next couple years but westjet stock may lead the pack on the way down.

Re: College Choices/Issues with Sault?
A degree may or may not be important for your future employment. A college diploma may or may not be important for your future employment. If you have a PPL, how much longer would it take to obtain a CPL at a flying club? Think time value, why spend 3 years in school if you can pay about the same an...

When you go for your medical at AC the Doctor checks your prostate, and usually comments “this is to remind you Air Canadian is your boss”. The pass travel is just another way you bend over and take it. It does not have to be this way, but no one will stop them. Like you said pass travel ...

undisclosed “operational reasons.”
As in we were to cheap to pay for crew, or to cheap to fix the airplane, or to cheap to pay for fuel. So now you are stuck to find your way on your own becuase we were also to cheap to have customer service reps or a call centre to help you make other arrangements.

Looks like the memos haven't sunk in. There are LGBTQ members on this forum, please be respectful. I don’t feel our comments are directed at the community that fits the company “diversity” profile. It’s directed at the “company agenda”. Do any LGBTQ get tired of the diversity emails? Probably. Don’...

Re: Wow, you really do get what you pay for
Is the practice of overselling not driven by the consumer? Lowest fare, how do you do this? You keep seats as full as possible trying best to always have every seat full. Sometimes you calculate wrong and have empty seats, other times you are wrong the other way and have to compensate some passenger...

Re: Wj share price blame
What's in it for the shareholder today? Swoop may not be done on the cheap. Still rocky road ahead. Oil prices are climbing. Also if you look across the board, many stocks have been down like the banks etc. I don't think this year will be a great year for airlines after the 2017 boom with so much ga...

Could we cost cut the Diversity department and divide this among employees for better pay? I mean we are in Canada, its pretty hard to not be diverse but those emails make it sound like we are accomplishing something.

As a Jazz pilot who was here when the 57 was introduced, I have no idea what you are talking about. The wages for the 57 were industry standard and as per our contract divided by 1500 pilots(status pay), no celebrations required. .....resulting in the lowest paid 757 pilots in North America...flyin...

Am I the only one who thinks the vote is not enough? I mean 9% is a big portion of the pilots at Westjet. If you are serious about a strike, don't you want 98-99%? Tread lightly comrades!
