Re: When is YYZ ACC the busiest?

I wrote a snarky response about asking why YYZ is so YYZ compared to the rest of N.A. But "who cares" because the responses are always 'it is what it is' and YYZ isn't bad kind of deal.

This guy is the reason why real airline types roll their eyes at the "aviation experts" on TV. Your thoughts are as antiquated as an NDB.

Re: Hiring outlook

I see. I wonder how all the ex AC pilots are enjoying WJ today. Oh wait. That never happened. Like I said, if you weren't just a kid and remembered the dark days of the 2000s, you'd know that there should be a lot more factors that go into accepting a job than where you can upgrade the faste...

Re: Hiring outlook

I think the 5+ years flow is more realistic. 80 pilots flowed in 2017. I believe it was less in 2018. It will likely be the same or less in 2019. I would go with 70 pilots per year.....equals well over 5 years. As the previous poster said you should thank your lucky stars to be rhs in a Q400 with 1...

Re: FO taxiing

By that logic, how do these captains trust ANYTHING the FOs do? I don’t do anything in the aircraft based solely on “trust”, if someone demonstrates competence - and the vast majority do - they’re welcome to handle the aircraft as PF. Entitlement earns you the paperwork. CRM and MCC isn’...

Re: FO taxiing

250 hours FOs in Europe taxi at Brussels Airlines, KLM and British Airways. That was the situation 4 years ago. I doubt it has changed in those years. If they can do it, there is no reason Canadian carriers can't do it. I think someone has a bit of 3 bar syndrome. Are you really dying to taxi around?

Re: Hiring outlook

Most pilots final goal is mainline. Any Encore hopeful needs to be realistic. How long until Regional left seat. How long until YYC based right seat mainline. (Assuming your looking for that cause why else would you even be considering encore) How long until Left seat Mainline. How long until top sc...

Re: Which Canadian Airlines expect their Flight Deck Crew to also be Cabin Groomers?

You are being made to do that job by someone who stands to gain from your understanding that they don't think you're all that important. Ask yourself why. It's because they want you to believe it. It makes it easier for them to pay you less. I bet not even Chuck would be willing to stand for that. ...

Re: FO taxiing

When I was an FO I remember being very busy especially on the after landing flows and stuff, and I had most ground / ramp frequencies memorized after awhile that it made my life much easier to walk and chew gum at the same time. Ever since I’ve been responsible for the tiller it’s given me a new ap...

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future

Maybe the die hards will step up and bid these positions for the good of the company. I mean seniority doesn’t matter right? And the pay is fair.

Cmon boys. Don’t wuss out. Mothercorp needs you!

Re: Encore vs Porter

Fair enough I stand corrected. But a new hire at Encore would be at the bottom of the entire Westjet seniority list. If they didn’t feel like going to Swoop, how long on average would the flow to mainline Westjet take? That’s the real question now. Probably something a fresh eyed new hire at Encore...

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future

Assuming seniority allows, can management deny the bids for operational reasons? According to the new CBA, Swoop pilots are subject to a 24-month position freeze. No one was denied anything. Those three early releases had to be negotiated, like everything now. didn't you swear off this site? back t...

I don’t think he meant to use the word parachute in a demeaning way. Droptanks your post is confusing. You seem to think Flow and the One List are 'kinda the same thing', then proceed to explain that they are not. They are not the same at all. And it is far from a done deal. Flow is just hiring. Th...

Don't forget - you don't have to fly with that guy who actually thought Swoop was a new airline entity all to itself. He left for another gig. That's gotta be worth something. JJJ Love what you guys have done with the place since we left. I’m sure it’s much a much better working environment there w...

Re: Hiring outlook

What does AC look like for west coast fill spots? Lots of growth for YVR planned at AC this year. With your time, look into it. Or mainline WJ. You’ll wait a few years before you can hold YVR base because you’ll be at BOTL. Good luck. Lol. A few years. AC will have you YVR within a year. WJ would b...

Re: Grooming Update

Junior WJ pilots have already been forced though arbitration to give up any predictable progression of pay and status. A complete destruction of a career. Doesn’t really matter how it happened. It is the new reality.

To give up more would just be a detail. All has been already taken.

Big deal.

Re: Possibly returning to Canada

many in the hiring process will throw your resume in the bin with envy and resentment. Why would anyone envy you having to give up a wide body gig to move back here? I think it’s more the smug superiority most expats seem to convey to those who stay in Canada with our pesos and our low pay and our ...
