Re: Transport Canada Website Down

Maybe, just hopefully maybe, the government of Canada is updating their website so that it looks like it has kept up with change. A website whose front page looks like it's still stuck in 2004? Not to mention navigating that website... I don't know about anyone else, but I would actually appreciate...

Re: Lawyer or no lawyer?

I never did, I just looked on the transport Canada website to make sure he was the owner, and got an AME to give the plane a quick look over.

Re: Are some high wing singles a bad idea for survey

According to the late John Frank, the author of "Cessna 210 buyers guide" (i have the book and it's a wealth of knowledge on the 210) the later cantilever wing 210s can take a greater structural load than the earlier strut braced models, the carry thru spar is quite noticeable when you look up at th...

Re: Frustrations of a Military ATC and the Big Leap

Contrary to what Lotro has said, I think there is a fast track option for military ATC controllers...I've met a few military controllers who has received an offer from Nav Canada to skip the entire application process and to receive a conversion course/OJT. Not only that but they would receive simi...

I interviewed in January and it was around 900/week on the 337, accommodations paid for. Schedule was something like 23 on/5 off
Thanks, that's pretty decent pay if it is take home actually, and the accommodation is paid so that's even better. Thank you.

Funny, I knew exactly what post you were talking of when I started reading this. I've always thought the idiotic pilots who post videos of themselves skimming the surface of a lake in an aircraft with tundra tires was about as stupid as you could get. Not only are you doing something high risk, dang...

Re: Air Taxi Franchise idea?

Sounds like a great idea. Starting a small airline otherwise would require buckets of money. Someone told me it's way cheaper to buy a small air operator than to build one from scratch, obviously easier as well. I'd seriously think of buying into a franchise like you describe, I've always wanted to ...

Never thought of it that way. Hopefully the people you don't want to come can't make it but you still invited them and therefore don't look like a jerk. "Oh, I'm so sorry you can't make it, I had no idea you had other important things going on in your life. "

Re: QUick Question around time off during training

I can't really even believe after someone has gone thru all the hoops and gotten to the training stage at Nav Canada that they would actually ask for time off for a wedding. The last time I re-arranged my life for a wedding they divorced after 3 months anyway. I could see if a loved one was dying in...

The simple solution to this situation is a belton tax. Getting hurt should not be free.

You would think people would just automatically put their seatbelt on when they are seated, just like a car.

Such little respect for those who wrote and keep writing the books with their blood.... This is bullshit. The book is written in the blood of passengers. Yes, the passengers, and that 1st officer who speaks up when something isn't right but the captain is too arrogant and stubborn to listen and God...

Think about how many times the average 30 year old vehicle has been taxed in its life, way more than it cost when it was new. If the government could figure out a way to tax that blender you bought at a garage sale they would.

Re: What happens to a Pilot in Case of an accident

Maybe, but a thought that might put you at ease a bit more: in the end it is all about money. If you crash an A320, you will never make enough money to put a dent in that damage, even if you caused the damage. You'd probably be in more trouble if you crash the boss's 206 due to your gross negligenc...

Re: COPA for Kids pilots now require police check

Obviously this wouldn't work with 2 place aircraft but why doesn't one of the parents just go with the kid(s) in the plane. I myself would rather have a parent in the plane, what if the kid starts screaming, is completely terrified and goes bonkers? I'd like to have someone to help me with that in t...

Ok, I've read enough of the whinefest here, and I'm going to defend COPA. You guys are really clueless about how these predators operate. God Bless you for naivety. The reason -- yes I'm certainly presuming -- that COPA is singling out pilots, is not what might happen at an event. It's the chance o...

Re: COPA for Kids pilots now require police check

I would say the losses have more to do with people being busy and too self involved to bother. People here complaining how a quick piece of paper from the cops is too overbearing. GENERAL AVIATION IS DYING OUT. It's too expensive for more and more people, people are also too busy with too many othe...

Some employers just want you to THINK they can't afford to pay you more. I worked for a guy (non aviation) who actually paid ok. He drag raced all over North America.
