Re: Leaving with a bond?

Cut through the rhetoric guys. First off, a training bond is an unfortunate legal scam, and worse still, our canadian legal system thinks it is all OK. Google it and you will find that judges think it is all fine. So much for the legal system in Canada. No protection for the average joe in this pla...

Re: Leaving with a bond?

You are one up on the ethical scale from the company you would be leaving if you ask me. You are paying back the money that they spent training you. They should be praising you to your future employers.

Re: TC medical fee

Just because you don't know what TC does when you renew your medical, doesn't mean they're not doing something when you renew your medical. What are they doing then? The fee didn't change when AIP amendments stopped being sent out. I often wonder what the hell my taxes are going to, I still pay the...

I wonder how those Sigtronics noise cancelling headsets are? They are only $700. I have a cheap Sigtronics for passengers in my plane and it's worked great for years.

Not even checked out on the plane as an FO and logging PIC? Give me a break.
That right there sums it up as being a ridiculous program. Either you are PIC or you are not PIC.

If I was working there I'd just bring along my old garage sale Lowrance Airmap. Better than nothin, for reference anyway.

Re: The importance of maintaining your airplane

I thought there was something in the CARs about "owner produced parts" but I can't seem to find it. I made a couple of new fiberglass wing root adapters for the rear seat vents on my Cessna but obviously those have no bearing on aircraft safety or reliability.

Re: need access to a A320, A330 or A340 sim

So sims are booked up in Montreal as well eh. damn. Well that's a great idea to try the USA. Going to fire off some emails across the border. Hopefully there are some not too far from T.O. Anyone know if the IPC actually requires a GPS approach? If I end up doing this in a light twin I'd rather jus...

Re: Possible Government assistance for training pilots.....given to the airlines?!

I think he's saying that we've quickly come to the point where "when everyone has a degree, no one has a degree" most jobs do not require a degree. They require specific training. Even when you think of doctors and lawyers. While their specific training is in the form of a degree it could...

Re: Possible Government assistance for training pilots.....given to the airlines?!

So the airlines pay crap for the 1st years or so, they create a self inflicted shortage, because people that have bills to pay just aren't going to bother becoming a pilot or pilots are just going to say "faq it" and quit (myself). Now they want the taxpayer to fix it? Other professions wi...

Maybe this should be one of the numerous ads on this forum, yeah they are that cheap. It even comes with a headset jack and a power cord to plug into one of those $75 Canadian Tire booster packs if plane doesn't have an electrical system. I can't even believe someone would even want to fly NORDO.

Re: Luxury Tax

I can’t see a reason why spending my cash on an airplane or boat is worthy of extra tax, but not spending it on a cottage (or second cottage), or flash jewellery, or a collection of good wine, or a decent violin, for example. Exactly, I know someone who drives a 100k vehicle and lives in a basement...

Re: Spins Not Specified In POH, Illegal?

A Cessna 172 is only in the utility category under certain conditions, within certain weight and balance I believe, otherwise it's considered a normal category aircraft. I don't know of any other plane that has that "either or" designation.A Cessna 150 for example is always utility unless ...

Re: Fatal Crash - Gabriola Island - Dec 10, 2019

Guys a pitot static instrument failure or blockage is not going to bring down an airplane like this because the pilot can just switch to attitude+power. A gyro instrument failure is much harder to deal with. Sure, if the pilot knows about it. There is at least one case of a pitot static blockage br...

Yes, WX cams are one of the best tools for the VFR pilot.
