Re: What do you do when you think someone should never fly again?

Did the original poster or any of his fellow Captains actually think of bringing this up with this FO? Maybe have a serious talk with him over a coffee and try to help him instead of secretly sewering him quietly behind his back. He probably thinks he is doing fine because everyone is to chicken shi...

Re: Quebec R44 missing.

https://www.latimes.com/projects/la-me-robinson-helicopters/ Well that little video is "to the point" I know absolutely nothing about helicopters but why wouldn't the rotor be designed so that it's physically impossible for it to touch any other part of the helicopter? It seems to just be c...

Re: A shout out to SAR - Thanks for being there! SR-22 CAPS deployment

Another shout out to SAR! I was called to fly a search for a downed aircraft this evening. I flew to the appointed area, and on my third grid line, found the aircraft. I buzzed the pilot, who ran out an lit his prepared fire. I made sure he knew I was there for him. I climbed up, to radio and text ...

Re: Becoming a pilot with a DUI

Tell him not to go to the US until he gets a pardon. With a pardon it won't be a problem from a job perspective. But the US won't recognize the pardon once the record is on their system, which it will be if you cross the border, and it will make US travel a hassle for your whole career. How does it...

But the US won't recognize the pardon once the record is on their system, which it will be if you cross the border, and it will make US travel a hassle for your whole career. That was not my experience, I was questioned a few times in the first couple of years but after that I never had another pro...

Re: Becoming a pilot with a DUI

I had a dangerous driving charge from when I was 19. I didn't affect me at all throughout flying until I applied at Air Canada. I actually forgot I even had it by that point, AC wouldn't hire me but I think that was more because I had not mentioned it on the application and they considered that lyin...

Or maybe stop bouncing the mechanics' paycheques?
Well that could very well be true judging from their difficulties lately.

What's with KD Air lately?

Seems like there is a CADORS report about once a week for them from Pitt Meadows to Pitt Meadows doing low and overs with some kind of gear problem. Maybe they need a hydraulic mule and some jacks.

Re: K country crash

I'm a little behind but how did the investigators know all the engine parameters leading up to the accident? Did it have one of those data recording engine monitors? I'll bet he wished he had another pilot in the cockpit with him to help out.

Re: Home made procedures

Maybe there needs to be a standard disclaimer at the end of each post on this forum such as the ones on car commercials, "do not attempt, may or may not be trained professionals, may or may not be safe" like my Pappy always told me, if so and so jumped off a bridge would you?. This mentality now wit...

Re: cost of housing vs min wage..

There are jobs out there that require very little education and pay enough to be able to afford a house, well not in Vancouver or Toronto or some of the other ridiculously priced cities.

Re: Reapplying for lost radio license

I like how job postings that require an atpl, multi ifr, a bunch of flight hours etc find it necessary to say you require a radio licence. Like what pilot doesn't have a radio licence or would think it's not necessary to obtain a commercial flying job? That, my friend, is government bureaucracy at ...

Re: Another Norseman...gone

T.C. enforcement should start at the company management level. When I had my flying business I had my employees sign an agreement that if I found them intentionally flying my airplanes in contravention of the law they would be immediately terminated. That solved the overloading, flying with known m...

Re: IFE and Recirc Fans

Well there has been a number of fatal crashes in history from smoke in the cabin and the crew has diddled around trying to figure out why and trying to decided if it warrants an emergency landing or not, it then ends in tragedy because of wasting precious minutes. I'm my opinion get the plane to the...

Re: Lawyer or no lawyer?

I never did, I just looked on the transport Canada website to make sure he was the owner, and got an AME to give the plane a quick look over. You're confusing "title" (ie ownership) with "registration". Common mistake. A leasee would show up on the TC website and could sell you the airplane. Then, ...

Re: Canadian housing Prices / Wages

While I do agree, things cost way more compared to wages than they used to cost, especially housing, people also want to live much more extravagant lifestyles now. 2 new cars in the driveway with all the useless gadgets, big travel trailer, boat, all on payment plans of course. Maybe, just hopefully maybe, the government of Canada is updating their website so that it looks like it has kept up with change. A website whose front page looks like it's still stuck in 2004? Not to mention navigating that website... I don't know about anyone else, but I would actually appreciate...
