Re: Manipulating Throttle Regained Power

Anyone who has ever owned a Chrysler product from the 60's or 70's will have valuable experience in how to use throttle manipulation and the accelerator pump to keep the old pig running especially when cold 😆

Re: Surcharges to the rescue!

Then just raise the price. Don't add a sneaky surcharge later You mean like just raise our federal taxes instead of the sneaky " Carbon Tax" ? There’s nothing sneaky about a carbon tax. Proposed bill. First reading. Second reading. Third reading. Senate. Royal Assent. Gazette. Numerous publications...

Re: Pilot leaves towbar on runway??

So the theoretical scenario is, you wander out to what ever aeroplane you are going to fly and do a walk around/DI what ever you want to call it. You find no faults, no snags, no issues, etc. You then, for what ever reason, wander away from the aeroplane for some amount of time. In said amount of t...

Re: Pilot leaves towbar on runway??

How's double, triple checking something negligent? I check to see if the front door is locked at least 6 or 7 times before I go to bed, crazy maybe but hardly negligent. If you do the walkaround, then the towbar is still attached afterwards, I would call that negligent. No, negligent would be never...

Re: Pilot leaves towbar on runway??

Only completely stupid people would still think that this last minute look-around is a checklist after I have repeatedly stated that it is simply a last minute look-around And only completely negligent people have to go double check, and triple check things that were on the first check list (walk a...

Re: Closing airspace

Strange how anyone would even think this was necessary. I can get in my car, drive to my airport, get in my plane, go for a flight and then go home and not be within 300' of anyone. As I'm driving to the airport though I pass the dog park which is crowded with people who don't seem to give a rip and...

Re: 703/704 Operating Certificates

AOC's cant be sold So how does it work if a company leases everything, hangar and planes etc? Really the only asset that's left is the AOC and I guess the staff, but they are really just rented. I flew for a Company that as far as I could figure all they owned was the AOC and the coffee machine in ...

Renting out your privately registered aircraft

Sorry if this has been previously discussed but I see ads now and again from pilots looking to rent block time from aircraft owners, does anyone know if this is even legal with a private aircraft? I can't seem to find anything on the CARs. I realize the person renting would have to be put on the pol...

"Nearly" ripped the tail off, cause it would have been way worse if it was completely ripped off.

Is there even a transport office anywhere you can just walk into? The one in YYJ has been closed for a long time, they are there, you just can't go in without an appointment.

Re: Pilot leaves towbar on runway??

My final check before getting in is tow bar, fuel caps, baggage door, oil cap and dipstick, takes 15 seconds. Other than the oil cap and dipstick which I just feel is important to double check any of the other things could become a problem again between your pre flight check and take off if you fuel...

Re: What if you get a brake problem on final

My home airport runway is only 1400' so I check to at least see if the pedals are hard on final, that's about all that can be done on a small plane.

Re: Companies Laying off.

I wouldn't worry about companies laying off. This virus will pretty much be the end of aviation as we know it. This virus is expanding exponentially and will kill off any remaining airlines. It's just a matter of time. Anyone who thinks this matter will go away in three to four months is out of tou...

Re: Who's gotten a lay off?

The older people could be taking more precautions, I know my parents are. Maybe the 50-59 crowd is old enough to be at risk but not quite old enough to realize they are actually old enough.

Re: Who's gotten a lay off?

It's a tough choice - catch 22 was said - and just to put out the contrarian idea... People will die either way, and not just from the disease. With the shutdown of the economy families go bankrupt, people end up on the street, kids lose their futures... so some already health marginalized people c...

Re: Who's gotten a lay off?

Welcome to the new combination of y2k, 911, SARS and the 2008 market crash all rolled into one. This is gonna hurt! Ha, I remember Y2K!, yeah because the "computer" in your '99 Toyota knew what year it was and wasn't going to start on new years day. On another note I haven't heard much about global...

Re: Transition between aircraft

Yes, it's pretty much the insurance companies that are making the rules. If your renting the flight school will make you do a checkout, which is a good thing. If you buy an obscure plane trying to find someone to give you that insurance required checkout can be difficult sometimes.
