Re: Etihad to hire up to 600 pilots in the next three years

Last I heard, there were 300 Canadian pilots at Emirates alone. Gulf Air is a bit of a circus. Plus, Bahrain is not the fastest growing base from which it can grow. At one time, Gulf Air was owned by the governments of Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and Abu Dhabi. The mix of those countries gave lots of traff...

Re: 5T/7F Merger called off

anyone on this post really understands the mechanics of M&A, separate of the ability of either or both Balance Sheets to consummate a deal. It would appear that the respective senior managements of either company didn't understand it either when they announced the merger back in April. From a pilot...

Re: 5T/7F Merger called off

Having been a "Rainbow Warrior" for almost 30 years and seeing the inner workings of 7F through several CEO's and 2 owners I can only sum it up by saying First Air always seemed to be a day late and a dollar short -- they always under reacted, very slow to change and when they did corners were cut ...

Re: 5T/7F Merger called off

bmc: you have some insight with the players involved. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the second failed attempt by a new 7F president at either selling or merging the airline? What's next? I don't know on both questions. If the cause of the abrupt halt on this transaction is caused by the 7...

I think the King Air is the most elegant looking twin turbo prop. Each new model just seemed to get better looking over time.

Re: King Air Single

Considering that the PC12 first flew in 1991 and put in service in 1994, Beech has had ample time to "think" about an appropriate response.

Maybe they just need more time.

There sole purpose is to be profitable. If they stick to the true lost cost model, they can grow the market, like other low cost carriers have.

Re: New Destination(s)

BMC. Can you explain why most low cost are not privy to LHR? Why will WJ go to LGW or STN? Huge disadvantage don't you think? That is if and when.... Which "most low cost" are you referring to? One of the features of low cost airlines is the use of cheaper under utilized airports. Ryanair serves Is...

I know you have old mates at WJ but I don't think they are as nostalgic of Canadian as you are. Except for "better dead than red".... your good old days are gone. Yes those were the good ol' days for both Blue AND Red.
Explain the nostalgia piece. Not sure where you picked that up.

Re: New Destination(s)

"Slow and steady", "let's start with three older machines"........... That's a 20 year old business plan. It worked well in 1996. This is not the same business environment. Is it the right strategy today? I ask this because WJ is a legitimate concern, with serious financial backing. Both Boeing and...

Re: New Destination(s)

AC loads are hammered everywhere. Rouge loads were around 90% on the overseas routes all summer. There are dozens of underserved overseas markets that are open and up for grabs. AC intends to fly those routes. All WJ need to do is apply for those routes with the Canadian government, and wait for fo...

I think some are clear, correct me if I'm wrong, but several evade me. Is there an accepted standard on these? TTSN: total time since new TTAF: same as above? SMOH: since MAJOR overhaul (?). If so, does this refer to the engine? Only? SPOH: since prop overhaul? TTE? Total Time Engine STOH? Since To...
